Return of the “Machida Era” or does Jones soldier on and close out 2011 by dismantling another one of MMA’s elite? I think Jones wins it, but this is his most dangerous test to date.
Man we are hot and cold. I think Jones is going to obliterate Machida. This is a bad style match up for Machida.

Better wrestling? Idk about that… Here is where Machida is going to run into problems. He hangs on the outside, right where bones wants him and gets hit with strikes from every direction. He’s going to have a hard time countering bones when he has that long reach. Also his linear retreat and counter won’t work on Jones because once again the reach advantage. He is going to get stuck on the fence like the BJ vs Diaz fight (this is where the spinning elbows come in). After getting thrown by his signature hip toss, poor Machida will have Jones a much heavier opponent (should be at hw) sit on his chest in full mount, while elbows rain down upon him. Machida gets TKO’ed Rua style.
His Ju Jitsu might save him or if he get in close to use his superior striking ability but Jones runs from his opponents when they get too close.
Machida please prove me wrong because I don’t like Jon Jones.

Machida has excellent wrestling but he’s not elite. Jones in one of the best wrestlers in MMA. Yeah, he’s not the most technical wrestler but he sure gets that takedown when he wants it. Size matters and I agree with Oreo on his comment about Jones at HW. It will happen sooner or later according to Bones but why move up when you’re smashing everyone you fight. BTW, Machida has the best takedown percentage in the LHW division. That blows me away especially since I’ve never seen Bones take down.

If Jones blasts through Machida and Rashad he should move to HW. Wouldn’t be interested in watching him fight LHW anymore after he destroys every top prospect at 205.
I dont see that happening! He would have to put on 40 plus lbs just to hang with the HW. JBJ vs Cain? JBJ vs JDS? JBJ vs The REEM? JBJ vs Brock? just cant see it unless its a super fight and he can make bank!
Maybe drop 20lbs and fight at Middleweight.. he wouldn’t do as good against heavyweights like Cain and JDS

JBJ has reach and kicks too! Granted they are nothing like the Dragons kicks but i think bones will mix it up and will end it in the 2nd via KO.
No one has ever tried to test Jones waist down so hopefully Machida will try to out do him with kicks and realize thats the only weapon that can reach has far as Jones arms while standing lol. I can see it going to decision hopefully in machida’s favour.

I think this will be JBJs toughest opponent to actually find in the octagon; but in the end he will find him. Dragon has that elusive style, but I don’t think he has the power to come in and out and do serious damage. Will be fun to watch though, I’m def. getting the PPV on this one.
