UFC NEWS | The End Of An Era As UFC Retires Gladiator Intro | UFC 143 To Debut New Opening
For many years UFC fans have come to know what many call “The Gladiator Man.” This now famous introduction to all UFC pay-per-view events has become a staple for the promotion.
He has seen his time in the sport and he is now gone. UFC president Dana White announced recently that UFC 143 will bring in a new era to the UFC introduction sequence and the gladiator will no longer be a part of it.

Tonight, UFC President Dana White revealed exclusively to the Underground that the opening sequence for its PPV broadcast has been redone and the new introduction will be revealed this Saturday for UFC 143. The event will feature Nick Diaz fighting Carlos Condit for the interim welterweight championship in the main event.
The opening sequence, which has shown a Roman gladiator preparing for battle has often been critiqued by fans and although the sequence hasn’t been used by the UFC on its FOX and Fuel TV broadcasts, it had been present as most recent as this past UFC 142.
To quote the UFC President directly: “He’s been cut.”

That song was the worst part about that intro, Dana even hated it.

They’re just done with the same old stuff they’ve had for years. UFC needs a more mass appealing face, and that lame stuff that’s been around since like 2003 needs to go. I’m getting tired of being called a redneck for liking MMA every time people see that intro too.

As long as “Face the Pain” remains I could give two $hit$ about the gladiator. I’m hoping the theme song sticks.
Regardless of the sequence, I’d like to see them using all types of new music. If they’re going back to Brazil this summer, for example, use Soulfly because Max Cavalera is a god there

Was tired of seeing the gladiator intro after seeing it the first time. The lame ass rap-core songs are annoying too. However, the Fox sports song being played now throws me off.

The UFC on FOX theme is gay! And the robots are gay too…It’s not ****ing robo wars!
It’s about two martial artists made out of flesh and blood deciding inside the cage which one of the two is the best fighter.
UFC is selling the old school fans out to reach out to the mainstream public.
Why not make an intro of a bunny hopping around for 2minutes on a manu chao song. And make pink marshmallows from the UFC gloves. So people get entertained by 2 people humping each other in a fruity cage. I’m starting to feel Nick diaz on the acting stuff. There trying to hide what it rly is, it’s 2 man fighting a brutal fight in a cage wrap it up as u want haters gonna keep hating.
