UFC NEWS – Sweden’s First UFC Announces DaMarques Johnson vs. John Maguire on Fuel TV 2

International expansion efforts by the UFC have landed their first event at the Ericsson Global Arena in Stockholm, Sweden. The first fight announced on the card, reported by Heavy.com, will have American fighter, DaMarques Johnson, versus England’s new UFC inductee, John Maguire.
The Stockholm, Sweden event will be one of four international venues the UFC plans to visit in 2012. Before the April 14th fight in Sweden, the UFC plans to host UFC 142 in Brazil, UFC 144 in Japan, and UFC 145 in Canada.
Fuel TV plans to have the preliminary and main events aired on their station on April 14th. It is undetermined whether Johnson vs. Maguire will be a main or preliminary bout.
This past November at UFC’s debut on FOX DaMarques Johnson (4-3 UFC) showcased an impressive first round knockout victory over Clay Harvison. With all seven of DaMarques’s UFC fights never having gone the distance, it is expected that he will once again through caution to the wind and create an exciting fight for his fans.
John Maguire’s UFC debut rendered a unanimous decision victory over Justin Edwards from the previous month’s UFC 138 event that took place in his homeland of England. With 17 wins in his twenty fight mixed martial arts career, nine of his victories have come by submission, with three decided by knockout. While he has finished two thirds of his fights, it will be interesting to see whether he can continue his six-fight win streak, or whether the step up in UFC competition will be too much for the Englishman to handle.
