UFC NEWS – Struve Talks UFC on Fuel 1 Bout With Dave Herman
“We’re working on everything, same thing we do for every single fight. My wrestling, jiu-jitsu, kickboxing … I think I’m better standing up and on the ground. I think I’m the more technical striker. He’s got KO power but he still has to prove that against higher caliber fighters. Maybe his wrestling is better but if he wants to take me down he’s gonna have to work from my guard.”

Struve always comes to fight, probably the most exciting hw in the ufc imo or one of them.
Struve in a good fighter, unfortunate that he has become the prove your worth guy for up and coming heavy weights. He has an awesome record but is a lot like Kongo as far as status in the HW category, Unless he can string together some serious wins over valid opponents I think he will be stuck in his role as mid-caliber training fighter.
your right but there is nothing wrong with that. He is just below elite. He doesn’t lose to shitty fighters. If you can be Struve or Kongo you are worthy of getting a crack at the higher caliber fighters. There are a lot of fighter who have great careers in this role; Lytle, Bonnar, and for a good while Guida.
One of my faves to watch. If Stefan sticks to a serious program to gain muscle mass (and I’ve watched guys with his body type do it), he could be a serious problem for any heavyweight. Give him two or three more years, he’s young, tough and skilled.
