UFC NEWS – Rumor Turns Fact: Ellenberger vs. Sanchez Set For Yet To Be Announced Debut On FUEL TV

Earlier this morning we announced that welterweight fighters Jake Ellenberger and Diego Sanchez where likely set to face each other on an unknown card.
BJPENN.COM learned just hours later that the two will take center stage on the UFC first trip to FUEL TV in the nights main event.
The UFC has yet to officially announce the card which is expected to take place on February 15 from Omaha Nebraska. So for the time being we will dub it, “UFC on FUEL 1: Ellenberger vs. Sanchez”.
Jake Ellenberger was last seen dispatching Jake Shields in devastating fashion during their “UFC Fight Night 25: Battle on the Bayou – Shields vs. Ellenberger” main event his past September. The win put a stamp on his dominance since entering the UFC and gave him his fifth straight victory. Jake’s lone UFC loss came at the hands of Carlos Condit, via split decision, in his Octagon debut.
After dropping back to back fights to BJ Penn and John Hathaway, Diego Sanchez has found some recent success back in the UFC’s welterweight division. Coming off of two straight victories against top welterweight prospects, Martin Kampmann and Paulo Thiago a win over Ellenberger would speak volumes for his progression as a mixed martial artist. Sanchez is 6-2 in his last eight UFC bouts.

Ellenberger/Kampman is the fight that should be happening. Kampman got screwed in the Sanchez fight.
YUP
Kampman did get screwed, but why the drop in competition for Ellenberger? He Beats the crap out of the past number one contender and does what the champ could not do. Which is what everyone else in the devision does to the ppl who face George, which is finish the guy. On the plus side we get to see Sanchez take a good beating, which the majority of fans enjoy seeing!
Because the UFC knows how overrated this guy is that’s why he is fighting Sanchez and when he loses it’s just going to show everyone how bad this guy really is.
Because title contendership is backed up in the ww division… That’s my guess.
Sanchez deserved that win against kampmann..
I wana agree witcha on that one but NO kampman got robed, not nearly as bad as he thinks he did but he still shoulda got the w
HOWEVER, I personally think fighters should get points for heart. So yeah, diego won on my score card, but i score shit alil differentlly
I am getting excited havn’t seen my boy in the cage for awhile..
Ellenberg is going down..
YESSS!!!!! YESSS!!!!! YESSS!!!!!!!!!
YES!… lmao
Im right there with you on that one, diegos got more heart and intensity than the whole ww div combined. **** all these diego haters; a former no 1 contender with wins over guida, stevenson, thiago, florian, NICK DIAZ… is hardly a step down in competition for ellenburger. This is a tough fight for both of them, but i hope diego smashes him. Yes!
If Ellen can drop Sanchez and finish him in the first round then he’s a real threat to get the belt!
