UFC NEWS – “Rumble” on Belfort: “Somebody’s gonna get carried out on a stretcher”

” For me personally, it didn’t matter what weight class I fought at. I’d fight at 205 (pounds) if they asked me to. But, fighting at 185 — people have been asking me for a long time when I was gonna move up to 185. I had an opportunity to fight Vitor Belfort, so I’m gonna step up to the challenge and see what I can do. I feel great already. I’m 215 to 220, right now. I feel amazing. My speed is still there. Of course I’m stronger. So, I know, fighting at 185, I’m gonna be just as fast. In my opinion, I’ll be just as strong… I honestly think it won’t go all three rounds. Somebody’s gonna get hurt. I don’t know who it’ll be. I don’t plan on getting hurt at all. Somebody’s gonna get hurt. Somebody’s gonna get carried out on a stretcher or something. It’s gonna be a battle. That’s what I’m looking for. That’s what I’m preparing for. I hope he is too. I plan on doing whatever it takes to beat Vitor. I mean, I don’t know if I’m gonna stand or if I’m gonna take it to the ground. I’m gonna win. That’s all I know. “
Last night on the live edition of HDNet’s Inside MMA, UFC 142 co-main event fighter, Anthony “Rumble” Johnson talked about his upcoming fight with Vitor Belfort.
This is a very interesting fight, both fighters have heavy hands, with the technical edge probably going to Belfort, but “Rumble” is a savage and he is making his middleweight debut against one of the top talents in the sport.

Poor rumble gonna get ko’d or tapped lol
lol not gonna happen Rumble will be too big for Vitor
I think the odds are in favor of Vitor, however, you never know.
Vitor is an mma legend. I hope he KO Johnson but we all know Johnson is horrible on the ground so I can see a sub as well
Johnson via TEEP
I can see Johnson lay and pray exactly like he did to hardy. But vitor by tko.
That is exactly how this fight will go. I do not think the fans will get what they are expecting in this one. Rumble only stands when he knows he is the better stand up fighter, and in this case he probably isn’t. It makes sense for him to force Vitor to carry his weight for a few minutes before standing with him.
I don’t see Vitor as any favourite in this match. Could go either way. Vitor had more hype than anything. He only got the belt because Randy’s eye was scratched. He lost to Randy in the other fight, Tito, Chuck – all the top guys at the time, He only looked great when he was on the way up. He doesn’t do well in wars so his only chance is in round 1.
Like Jay already mentioned, I think it will be a boring Lay n Pray fight. Johnson said the same shit before the Hardy-Johnson fight. We all know what kind of ‘battle’ that was like…
Interesting fight,I seee Rumble doing the same thing he did to Hardy. The only difference is he admits it could go to the ground.
This is a good fight. If i was rumble I would go for the take down early to try and slow vitor down. Vitor likes to come out with a flurry. If he tires him out in the first maybe he can get a ko in the second. I am going for Rumble.
Vitor to Rumble:
“I must brake you”
Rumble to Vitor:
“Mama”
lol!
Yeah right, last time rumble said he was going to kock someone out (outlaw), he laid and prayed for three rounds.
you should read it again, its not what he said.
You must be reading a different article than everyone else, because Rumble doesn’t say he’s gonna KO Belfort at all. “…I don’t know if I’m gonna stand or if I’m gonna take it to the ground.” Reading is fundamental!
Well, if you ask me rumble did kind of KOCK hardy out. He kocked him pretty good. Anyway, rumbles a fag. If anyone goes out in a stretcher let’s hope it’s him.
Rumble ain’t gunna strike with Vitor he’s gunna take him down and lay on him. Can’t stand Rumble hope Vitor ko’s him.
Vitor by TKO/KO. Vitor has great wrestling defence, and it will only take 1 punch anywhere on Rumble’s head.
He has no chance and he knows it, “somebody is going to get hurt, I don’t know who it will be” lol sounds like he’s allready mentally beat
still cant believe this guy actually cut to welterweight…
How did he cut to welterweight and didn’t he get owned by Kos?
This reminds me of when Meathead was talking all that jazz about Kongo… We all know how that went. Rumble’s gonna get folded and put away like a lawn chair before the night is over.
