UFC NEWS – Poll Results: Which Upcoming UFC Main Event Are You Most Looking Forward to?

In our latest polling here at BJPENN.COM we asked our readers which upcoming main event you are most looking forward to.

With the UFC booking more shows than ever it’s sometimes hard to keep track of all the fights we have coming up. Pay-per-views, FUEL TV, FX and FOX are all a part of the UFC’s ever growing expansion and with that some of the best fights ever are scheduled for the upcoming months.

This is exactly why we wanted to know which fight, particularly, main event, you guys are most looking forward to watching.

After 2,781 votes were cast on our weekly poll, the fight the majority of you are most looking forward to is UFC 143’s Georges St. Pierre vs. Nick Diaz. This fight in particular took the majority of the vote with 1,265 (45.5%). This proves, at least in theory, that the UFC is correct with their claims of GSP being their biggest draw.

Rounding out second place is none other than this month’s UFC 141 main event between former champion, Brock Lesnar and newly signed UFC heavyweight, Alistair Overeem. The gargantuan main event took in 23.1% of fan votes (642 votes).

In third place, next weekend’s Jones vs. Machida took in 16.3% of the votes (452 votes) and Frankie Edgar vs. Benson Henderson came in at fourth with 8.3% (231 votes).

Tomorrow night’s main event between Michael Bisping and Jason Miller earned the fifth spot with 5.0% (138 votes), Aldo vs. Mendes cane in sixth with a meager 0.8% (23 votes), Guillard vs. Miller came in seventh with 0.6% (17 votes) and lastly, Melendez vs. Masvidal (Strikeforce) round out last place with 0.5% (13 votes).

All the fights listed are excellent matchups that I am sure everyone will enjoy, but when push comes to shove, the epic welterweight bout between GSP and Nick Diaz is the most anticipated bout in the upcoming months, and with good reason. Between the unpredictable antics of Nick Diaz and the dominating style of the champion, George St. Pierre, if your budget would only allow for one pay-per-view purchase, this would have to be it.

Thank you everyone who participated.

  1. Mike Diaz says:

The reason the UFC gets my money when GSP fights is not in support of the best gay & pray fighter in the WW division but because I want to be tuned in when Gonna Score Points gets dethroned. I wonder if anyone else watches him for the same reason or are the majority of his fans sold out on GSP from his fighting style to his persona as an overall human being. I GOT DIAZ TO CANCEL THE REIGN! DIAZ BROS! TEAM PENN!!!!!!

  2. Matt says:

Many people watch GSP because of his physique and they have goals of wanting to look like that themselves. So they idolize that about him. I think that is one reason why people watch. I think that’s part of why he has so many fans. But good chance he got his physique by using steriods and/or other performance enhancing drugs. He probably has best and most ripped physique in mma.

    • Michael says:

I almost never buy GSP fights because they are typically boring fights. I want to see this one because if Nick Diaz is going to fight I want to watch. Win or Lose you know what you are getting, just like BJ Penn, and for me Machida. Fans, like myself, want to see two athletes lay it on the line and scrap- if that scrap hits the ground, that’ss fine if they stay active. In my opinion if the fight goes to the ground and you have the dominate position (even from inside guard) that is the time to go for the finish, not just a chance to waste some time while scoring points.

    • canilive says:

yup i spend 50 bucks on a saturday night so i can see GSPs amazing body, when i could just go on pornhub and see the same thing, that is if i actually wanted to see a guy in spandex ROFL

      • Matt says:

I don’t think you get it. There are guys that buy “Muscle Magazines.” Not for the porn aspect. But to try to reach personal goals for themselves in bodybuilding. I’m not talking about porn. You brought that up.

    • King says:

That’s wierd. I have a hard time believing someone would spend $45 ppv to look at george’s body. I don’t think that’s why the UFC has come so far… I could be wrong though and living in a bubble. ??????

      • Matt says:

Not every GSP fan. And not you King.

        • King says:

I will slightly now agree that the physique may help a bit considering he models for underarmour and has these top selling fitness videos. A combination of all those things make him a bigger attraction to the world. I can understand that and I partially take back my comment above.

        • Matt says:

Thanks for saying that. That’s exactly what I mean! And it sells ppv’s! What I’m talking about is an image thing. That’s my point. It’s part of the “fighter persona”. Being a great fighter but also looking a certain way. A lot of new fans see him and say, “I like that guy” simply on looks (and some of his longtime fans too). Because GSP is in great shape.

    • Josh says:

      sounds sort of homo

  3. Matt says:

I also think that people on this site are curious to see how Diaz will measure up against GSP. Especially since Diaz just fought BJ.

  4. SP says:

Machida vs Jones is easily going to be the most exciting fight coming up

  5. hypehpyehype says:

georges long and boring reign is coming to an end. i know, you know it, and george knows it. just wait and see. gsp nuthuggers and gonna be embarassed

  6. Pull results?Who’s been out on the

  7. Nick Diaz says:

You haters are pathetic. You’re all just jealous cause your girlfriends think he is hotter than your non-training keyboard jockey asses. He is champ for a reason and you’re all are chumps for a reason. Deal with it!!!!

    • Stevo the great says:

Your fucking retarded….and you posted this under Nick Diaz name proves how stupid you really are. You are not Nick Diaz and GSP is a chump and a champ….but not a champ for long. I think your girlfriend probably has a picture of GSP on the ceiling so when you fuck her she doesn’t have to look at you. That’s why you are all wound up……Deal with it! LOL

    • Chris says:

So the man that fights for a living is automatically better than those who save people’s lives or positively impact society through research or other various professions? Not a chance pal.

  8. Nat says:

I voted for GSP Vs Diaz too because I want to see Diaz triangle or knock out GSP, GSP he has the tools to finish I’m sure, but just doesn’t and int he post fight interview says sorry, or some shit … he needs to be challenged everywhere and hopefully Diaz will do that… Gracie jiu jitsu

  9. Long-Strong says:

can’t wait to tune in for the ass-whooping Nick Diaz is going to get!

  10. baldy says:

gsp and diaz are 2 of my favorites…but to say gsp sucks or is a lay and pray wrestler type (sonnen, fitch)…your fuckin retarded. he didnt win the ww title, clear the division, and claim at least a share of the pound for pound title layin and prayin. he didnt cave in koschek’s face layin and prayin. he didnt make matt hughes scream in one fight and ko him in another in pain layin and prayin. and im as big of bj penn fan as anyone but just because he couldnt beat him doesnt mean gsp cheated. get a fuckin clue you idiots.

    • Chris says:

It also doesn’t mean he played by the rules. Asking questions when something is in doubt is a good thing. By asking the question “Did GSP grease?” we are not necessarily assuming one way or the other, hence the fact it is a question and not a statement.

    • ANDYBOY says:

uh, yeah he actually did……..before the Serra II fight the only guys he finished were Matt Hughes…yawn, Sean Sherk who is 4’3 with a reach of 14″ haha, Frank Trigg-double yawn, Jay Heiron-never ranked in any org, and then the corner stoppage of BJ…so you’re saying when he won the belt and “cleaned” out the division he didnt lay n pray or put on a poor performance against: Jake Shields, Josh koscheck, Dan Hardy, Bj Penn, Jon fitch, Thiago alves, adn teh 2nd Kos fight………..
plus he didn’t KO Hughes he knocked him down then got the ref stoppage with 3 punches that barely landed…..Hughes was never unconciouses like in the BJ fight….
he could have easily finished Kos, EASILY, but didn’t, why? cuz he fears Kos landing a lucky punch….that’s the kind of guy i want to watch, someone scared to take a chance! instead of the striaght armbar on Hardy he could have advanced his mount and gone for a real armbar but was scared to lose top position….face it GSP is a bitch. would i fight him, yes. i used to fight LW but now fight WW, so i would fight GSP in a heartbeat! you’re stupid idiot! Sherk had mentioned that GSP was greased up after their fight, BJ heard him and called Sherk a pussy for making a lame ass excuse for not being able to beat GSP, now BJ calls GSP out on the same thing and we have VIDEO PROOF YOU F***** IDIOT! you need to get a clue and learn to do this thing called research! i went to school here in Hawai’i and i’m not as stupid as you sound!

      • Donnybrook says:

Here’s a tip for you, try not to make your comments longer than the actual article… people might read it than.

      • baldy says:

thanx for making my point as far as clearing out the division…
as far as gsp cheating…accusations, thats all you got. people who got beat accusing him of being greased thats it. “we have video proof” really? where? no fines, no suspension, he still has the belt… if there were “video proof” of him illegally greasing himself, he would have faced some sort of consequence, ie… fine, suspension, loss of his world title. dana white would have shredded him in the press and gsp would be fighting (thrashing) guys like you in the minors. you dooshes call him a pussy, i call him an extremely intellegent fighter and undisputed welter wieght world champion.

    • jersey says:

grease or not it would not have mattered, gsp abused bj

  11. joey says:

Its not gsp I want to see fight its Nick Diaz

  12. GSP says:

    Not impressed by your performance!

  13. magoo says:

Man for all the GSP haters on here he sure is popular picking up nearly 50% of the votes.

  14. sgt thai clone says:

Diaz will pressure GSP like no other fighter

  15. Nightmare_Inc says:

Ha, Diaz doesn’t have the slightest chance of beating GSP … and deep down you all know it.
This will be GSP easist fight since he was an amature.. he will beat Diaz very easily.
