UFC NEWS – Palhares Returns Against Massenzio At UFC 142 In Brazil

The UFC matchmaking department has been busy this week, booking fight after fight for the first quarter of 2012. The latest of which is headed for the UFC’s return trip to Brazil this upcoming January in a bout scheduled in the middleweight division between Rousimar Palhares and Mike Massenzio.
UFC officials announced the matchup this afternoon.
UFC 142 is expected to go down on Jan. 14 from Rio de Janeiro’s HSBC Arena. However, the event itself has yet to be officially announced by the UFC. Booked in what is expected to the main event is a featherweight title fight between Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes.
The controversial leg-lock master, Palhares was last seen in action at UFC 134 in Brazil against Dan Miller. The often loopy Brazilian made heads turn when he jumped atop the Octagon in a victory celebration before the bout was stopped. The behavior is something MMA and Jiu Jitsu fans have become used to and now he will look for his seventh UFC win against Massenzio next year.
Massenzio will now look to avenge the loss of Miller, his teammate on his opponent’s home soil of Brazil. Last seen taking out Steven Cantwell at UFC 136, Massenzio, who is on his second stint in the UFC vows to make it his permanent home from this point forward.
