UFC NEWS – Melvin Guillard Officially Leaves Greg Jackson To Train With Fellow Defector Rashad Evans And The Blackzilians

[box_light] “Both camps are great, both sets of coaches are awesome. It’s just a decision I had to make for myself professionally. Did I want to split the time? Yeah, I did, but it’s kind of like trying to work for Exxon and work for Shell. You won’t be able to split your time between both. Cause both of those companies wouldn’t allow it. So it came to one of those points in my life where I had to make a grown-up decision. Kind of an executive decision, and this is the decision I made. I didn’t leave Jackson’s in a bad way. I love those coaches to death, love that team, and if anything every occurs and I have to go back to Jackson’s, I hope I’m still welcome, because I didn’t leave in the wrong way… As fighters we have to make the decision who’s going to get us ready to take us to that next level. At the end of the day, all this hype about which coach is better than who, at the end of the day we’re the ones in there doing the job. We’re the ones that have to get in there and bust our butts. All they can do is give direction and make things go from there.”[/box_light]
In a recent interview with mmaweekly.com, UFC lightweight fighter Melvin Guillard announced that he is no longer on the team of Greg Jackson and has instead officially listed himself with the newly formed Blackzilian team with former teammate Rashad Evans.
Evans originally left team Jackson when it came to be that he and fellow teammate Jon Jones would have to fight each other. In what many viewed as a breach of trust, Jones leapfrogged Evans for a shot at the UFC’s light-heavyweight title and in the process proclaimed that he had no issue in fighting his mentor Evans.
Rashad took this as a sign of betrayal and left his longtime team headed up by Greg Jackson. After bouncing around to a few different Gyms, Evans took up home base in Florida and with a team of coaches and fighters formed the “Blackzilians.”
Melvin Guillard has now followed in his footsteps.

Yeah Melvin is making a stupid mistake. He lost his last fight training out of this gym. Why go back? There’s something called the telephone and internet we can keep contact with far away buddies….
Respect
2 cocky fighters that are never gonna be champion
Rashad was already champion…
Rashad Evans has already been champion. Oops.
1 idiot MO who will never ever know anything about MMA. ever.
I meant a real champion like Chael Sonnen ! Idiots !
You crack me up hahahahaha. Mo you don’t no shit! Don’t believe the hype.
Speaking of “no”, It’s KNOW…dumbass. I was making light of the situation. I forgot Rashad was champion at one point. Sorrrrry Riga, Mr. MMA “No” it all
It’s cool to call your team Blackzilians…wonder if Whitezilians would be viewed as a racist team??
Just sayin
no not racist…just not a cool name for a team ..lol
Bigfoot Silva created the name and yeah it must be racist since Mitrione, Schaub and white coaches are there.
Gotta say I dig the name of their camp and maybe something good comes out of this rivalry
bad decision… i think, wonder if he’ll be able to make weight lol, shouldn’t be a problem switching camps as long as he enters his future fights focused
There gos another fighter that’s gonna miss weight!
over rated cocky phaggot. He never beat a top fighter. You can have the best record but wont count beating bums.. this crack babies garbage.. i would beat his ass easily
hahahahhahah ultimate troll
…who? I know MELVIN GUILLARD’S name. What’s your name? Guillard has been walking the talk for years. Very respectable skills. Has a few holes, but still young enough to improve. Are you European? Are you African? Are you Asian? Who are you???
I believe this is a bad decision for Melvin.. he is known for not followng game plans and needing guidance right now… he needs a coach like Greg. I wonder how hell be at the new camp. wish him well though, hate to see natural talent like that be wasted.
Rashad’s probably going to be his kryptonite, he should have stayed at jackson’s
Haha how brilliant would it be if Rashad won the title of Jones when Greg jackson basically said we want Jones haha would be so ****ing ironic
Rashad will get pwned by Jones, im no jones nut hugger, just saying he would…..Rashad should stop with all the talk….Melvin talks smack but to a point, I hope this doesnt rub off on Melvin, dudes a beast. Cocky? yes, clowinsh? yes but a good fighter with some holes….
I agree with one of you that Melvin needs a guy like Jackson. Keeps him focused, well trys to atleast.
Rashad I thought was a real good dude after watching TUF,but the jones nitemare and the press since has soured me. Having someone like Dana, “I speak before I think” white at the helm doesnt make it any better…..I’d like to see miller take Melvin, one more loss should humble him quite a bit.
