UFC NEWS – Kampmann vs. Alves In The Works For March 2012

Reports have started to circlulate this afternoon that the UFC is putting together a welterweight bout between Martin Kampmann and Thiago Alves.
No venue, date or exact location have been confirmed but it appears as if the two are in negotiations to meet at a yet to be announced event in March of 2012.
Kampmann was last seen in action defeating Rick Story at UFC 139 this past weekend. It was a much needed win after the long-time UFC resident dropped his two previous bouts to Jake Shields and Diego Sanchez via controversial decisions.
For Alves, the one-time title challenger found himself on a 1-3 skid recently but was able to bounce back from his less than perfect Octagon luck and take out Papy Abedi earlier this month at UFC 138 by submission.

Sweet. He better step up his finishing game.
I saw Thiago tweet his next opponent was soon to be established and the first person that came to my mind was Kampmann. If this goes through, this is gonna be a ****ing sick fight! War Pitbull!!!!
shouldnt thiago be forced to move to middleweight?
why, he makes weight with ease now and is 5 foot 8
your stupid Bertram, Alves has the biggest problem makin weight in the WW class>>> he almost didnt make weight against that papy dude
finally…. ive been waitin forever for this rematch. i think their last fight was the best fight ive ever seen before it got stopped. when it came to action, in my opinion, it was way better than the hendo vs rua fight and at least equal to, if not better than, the griffin vs bonnar fight. thats how i feel at least
dont think they ever fought before.
i couldnt find it either. maybe i dreamed it. if thats the case than im ****in gay or somethin dreamin shit like that
apparently there is no record of them ever fighting. i swear i saw the fight tho, that or im going insane, which is a possibility. from what i recall tho was that kampmann and thiago were going at it an the fight got stopped because of a huge cut on kampmann and alves aid hed love to fight kampmann again. like i said, however, i can find no record of this fight ever happening. can someone please verify that this did take place a couple years ago so i can rest assured that im not crazy

i think you guys are thinking about the chris lytle fight….
chris lytle… ok ima look it up right now
Hell Yea
hahaha im an idiot. it was totally the chris lytle vs thiago alves fight i was thinkin of…. my mma card has just been revoked. im ashamed now. thanks tho joey, if u wouldnt have told me that i woulda wasted alot of time tryna figure that out…. i will not talk about mma for at least a month as a punishment to myself
Kampmann better not be stupid and try to stand with Alves. He just does’nt have the power to trouble Alves on the feet.Alves by tko midway through the 2nd round.
haha it happens to the best of us buddy. you can keep your mma card this time! (8
Kampmann and Alves looked awesome in their last fight. This is going to be a tough fight and both like to scrap..I wud like to see Kampmann pull this off, but if he doesn’t I’ll be ok w Alves winning too.
tough fight to call but i’ll go with alves
not hating here but hope this fight brings the best out of these 2 because imo they have look lacklustered lately ,if i said that right
You are right. i have been so disappointed in Alves the past few fights (before Abedi). He was so crap against FItch II and was losing to lesser opponents than even him. Watching those fights made me start wondering if he is just not a very intelligent fighter because he has such amazing athleticism and strength to be losing to some of those guys. I would loved to see him back in a contender position.
this fight makes so much sense just like the miller and gulliard fight. both Kampmann and Alves have had a few losses but recently got a win. makes good sense because they are in similar positions.
Alves is more of a finisher than Kampmann. I pick Alves if he’s somewhat
injury free
this should be a sick scrap!
