UFC NEWS – Jorge Rivera Retires After Tonights Victory Against Schafer

A nine-year UFC veteran stepped into the Octagon for the last time this evening.
Jorge Rivera first fought in the UFC back at UFC 44 in 2003 when he took out David Loiseau in a three-round war that he won via decision.
A veteran, inspiration and tough S.O.B. Rivera has been captivating MMA fans for more than 11-years with his aggressive knockout stylings and tonight it came to an end.
After taking defeat in his last two UFC outings he came back tonight against Eric “Red” Schafer to end his career on a high note.
After a less than perfect first round that saw him on the defensive for the majority of the first five-minutes. In the second frame Rivera was able to catch his opponent on the chin with a nasty punch which dropped Schafer to the ground. After following up the initial shot with several unanswered blows on the ground the ref halted the bout awarding him the victory at the 1:31 mark.
Best of luck to Rivera in all his future endeavors.
