Every new test is going to be the biggest test to date for Jon. We all will see saturday night who the better fighter is. My guess, it will be jon jones.
Lyoto is a one dimensional fighter. He doesn’t have an all-around MMA game. Sure his technique in Karate is better…he’s been doing karate his whole life….but in the other elements of MMA, Jones is as good or better than Dragon. Dragon has 2 subs in his whole career, Jones has two subs in his last three fights.
Jon Jones will win by utter destruction and length. Machida has great footwork, but not great enough to overcome an 84 inch reach.
“One dimensional”? lol You must be new to the fight game. He’s Karate base yes, and it’s worked for him for the most part. But he also has training in Muay Thai, Judo, Sumo, and BJJ (which he has a black belt in). Not very many people have seen them, because he’s never had to resort to using them. What he has going for him, is that he’s just as elusive as Jones, and imo more unpredictable. Plus he has more experience. But Jones, well, he Jones. He’s proven himself. It’s a test for both of them. I can’t call this one. I’m a fan of both guys, and know their strengths and weaknesses. Whoever wants it more, and whoever can exploit the others weakness better will be the winner. But if I were a betting man, I’d put money on the underdog. Better payout. lol
He does have a black belt in BJJ and has some pretty damn good judo…
You ever see Machida use his BJJ black belt? He can’t deal with Jones’ wrestling, length, and power.
He’s never had to use them.

true that but machidas style is evasive ,attaining that distance and finding the timing to attack ,in an out ,jones reach could just as much be a hinderance then an asset in this fight
Jon jones utilizes his length to well, you cant beat someone you cant hit, its that simple.

I still Jon Jones will win because of his reach and wrestling. His wild unorthodox striking may be his undoing. That spinning elbow and other wild strikes leave him open for countering from the dragon. I am really just being optimistic.
Im worried that machida is going to rely too much on his striking. jones has a monsterous reach of 84 1/2 inches. machida is only bringing 74 inches. that means jones is going to have a five inch reach advantage per arm. i just cant see machida getting inside that without being severely punished. his best chance is to let jones be the aggressor then attack with his BJJ which isnt going to be easy either. i just dont know if machida has the power to out-wrestle jones. so its most likely gonna be jones by KO in the 2nd, the longshot is Machida by submission in the 4th.

Machida needs to take advantage of his mistakes.. If rampage would of capitalized when the distance was closed he would be champion right now.. I he counters when he’s in the range, the will be his best bet. Kick the shit out of jones legs as well. Rampage opene up the gates for that as well, but again, didn’t continue.. Take away his explosiveness and reach by kicks and slipping those spinning elbows and other crazy shit that’s for show..

Funny how some forget how Machida got put to sleep by Shogun. And the way Jones destroyed Shogun afterwards. I’m a fan of both but I’m taking Jones on this one.
I really hope machida wins, he’s just not a great fighter, he is complete. And a really nice person. Always have such respect for people.
