UFC NEWS – “I’m in a downfall in my life but I will be champion again, I promise”, says GSP
“A few months ago I was on top of the world and I’m now I’m in a downfall. But you recognize a champion from how he comes back from things that don’t go well. Everybody that says bad things and says bad stuff about me right now, mark my words. I’m going to tell you right now, I’m in a downfall in my life, but in a few months, I’ll be back stronger than ever, and I will be champion again. I promise… I believe there is only one person to blame for what happened and it’s myself. I’m the kind of guy, I endure pain and go through it. I learned a big lesson in my life. It’s going to make me stronger, smarter and more clever… Some people will say bad stuff about me, that ‘he’s finished,’ and stuff like that. What I’m going to tell you is t’s very easy to hit a guy when he’s down. We have a saying in France, ‘The life goes up and down.’ People will laugh because I’m in a downfall, I’m hurt, I’m not a threat to them. But I’ll be back on top, mark my words.”
UFC welterweight champion, Georges St Pierre, is obviously down in the dumps after being forced to withdraw from the UFC 143 main event where he was supposed to defend his title against number one contender Nick Diaz.
For a fighter who has had such a strong run of success throughout his career and gone virtually uninjured with his seven day per week relentless training schedule, one has to wonder why now, all of a sudden, the Canadian based fighter has had such a run of bad luck in the gym.
Whatever it may be, let’s hope for a speedy recovery so the champ can bring some stability back to the division that he reigns over.

Whether you like the guy or not, and whatever rank you think he has in the WW division he’s still top 3 in his division. I think he’s number one an I like the guy but even if you don’t, you don’t want that good of a fighter out of the ranks for that long, if you like diaz or condit then you want your guy to beat the best so hopefully he has a good recovery so we can see him fight in his prime. fan or no fan he’s good for the sport an this injury isn’t a good thing from any view.
LoL thank god we will never get to see Dick Diaz fight for UFC gold.It is likely him and GSP will never get matched up again and if they do it wont have the same feel as it would have. He is going to get knocked out brutally by the NBK than prlly given Koscheck and lose a UD. (The UFC wont give him Fitch they know he will UD Diaz easy). Fitch deserves the shot more than Diaz i have a hard time believing Diaz would beat Dong Hyun Kim.
Is anyone else getting that feeling too, that this is probably Fitch’s best chance to attain some kind of UFC gold? I mean if he is truly the perennial #2 best WW (This Interim Title would represent it the best, lol), I really really don’t like the idea of him being any kind of champion, but after Condit vs. Diaz I’m not sure if they can deny him any longer of a title shot!
Fitch will always be a top 5 ww. He’s needs to switch up his fighting style and become explosive and more dangerous! Training with greg jackson wouldn’t hurt..he make mountains out of mole hills, not a fan of his but he gets the fkn job done changes your fighting style for the better.

I don’t think he considers himself the champ unless he’s a fighting champ. That’s legit humility. I also think that Condit would have been a tougher fight for him than Diaz. And even though I’m a big fan, I would like to see the old GSP when he comes back from this injury. That happens and you’ll see Diaz asleep…….
The Saint lives breaths and shits MMA. He’s a disciplinarian like no other…if anyone can come back full strength from that kind of injury, it will be him.

smart strong and disciplined isnt what i think gsp fights with, he fights with FEAR. he is scared to lose, he’s scared to challenge his opponents in a real fight and he will use every rule in the ufc to his advantage. no clock limit on keeping an opponent on his back without bettering your position or inflicting damage? check. no need to fight a guy because u know you can get away with that fact? check. can pretend to be injured to avoid a fight? check and check. fool enough ppl out there into thinking they like watching his boring performances? now thats gsps favorite check of all.

if the rules favored other types of styles more instead of wrestling than it would be easier but since the current rules are tailored perfectly for gsps safe style he can always run out the clock on his opponents without worry.
we’ve seen plenty of BJJ counter wrestling, and I’ve seen GSP counter a lot of wrestlers; he’s a karate guy to begin with, but of course now an MMA guy. Anderson is no wrestler, look what he’s done. If you look at the UFC straps, there’s only 2 wrestlers that have a belt, JBJ and Edgar. If the rules favor wrestlers, why do we have 4 champs without backgrounds in wrestling?
Yes the clock has run out on GSP in his last 4 fights, but it’s not like he’s squeaking by. The other is seriously ****ed up, which clearly indicates 1) GSP just kicked their ass & 2) they can handle a serious ass whipping.
If you look at his record he has 13 wins by sub & ko/tko. 9 decisions, in which 4 came at the very top of the game. Maybe he can’t finish the top-top killers out there, but he sure puts an ass paddling on them.

GSP is Scared to fight Diaz plain and simple. Condit is a great fighter also but his bjj is not near the lvl of Diaz i think if gsp fights condit he will be able to takem down and holdem there till the bell rings. if he fights diaz he wont be able to holdem down unless of course he lathers up the oil of olay that is. if GSP is out for 10 months then that will be close to 2 years he hasnt fought. If your the champ and cant fight for over a year you should be stripped of your title. then when you heal up you should get an #1 contender fight or even a immeadiate title shot.
