UFC NEWS – “I’m in a downfall in my life but I will be champion again, I promise”, says GSP

“A few months ago I was on top of the world and I’m now I’m in a downfall. But you recognize a champion from how he comes back from things that don’t go well. Everybody that says bad things and says bad stuff about me right now, mark my words. I’m going to tell you right now, I’m in a downfall in my life, but in a few months, I’ll be back stronger than ever, and I will be champion again. I promise… I believe there is only one person to blame for what happened and it’s myself. I’m the kind of guy, I endure pain and go through it. I learned a big lesson in my life. It’s going to make me stronger, smarter and more clever… Some people will say bad stuff about me, that ‘he’s finished,’ and stuff like that. What I’m going to tell you is t’s very easy to hit a guy when he’s down. We have a saying in France, ‘The life goes up and down.’ People will laugh because I’m in a downfall, I’m hurt, I’m not a threat to them. But I’ll be back on top, mark my words.”

UFC welterweight champion, Georges St Pierre, is obviously down in the dumps after being forced to withdraw from the UFC 143 main event where he was supposed to defend his title against number one contender Nick Diaz.

For a fighter who has had such a strong run of success throughout his career and gone virtually uninjured with his seven day per week relentless training schedule, one has to wonder why now, all of a sudden, the Canadian based fighter has had such a run of bad luck in the gym.

Whatever it may be, let’s hope for a speedy recovery so the champ can bring some stability back to the division that he reigns over.

  1. g says:

Georges Saint-Pierre with a knee injury. Anderson Silva with a shoulder injury. Two of my favorites are down and out for a bit! No!!

  2. Julius says:

    Speedy Recovery GSP.

  3. Xaninho says:

He might just have worn out his body…

    • Michael says:

yup and unfortunately once he recovers we can probably expect to see him fight about once a year. He was already very cautious in his preparation for fights, now I assume, he will be more so.

  4. Fortyb4five says:

” I will be champion again” He got stripped of the title? Am I missing something here?

  5. magoo says:

Until someone beats you… still are the champ! Hope you have a speedy recovery,so you can come back and shut some traps.

    • The King says:

Cough those nuts outta your throat! YOU and I know exactly why the BAD KARMA is on GSP’s ASS. it just that YOU deny it even exists. ATTENTION ALL!! WHEN it Comes to GSP MAGOO lives in a perfect world.

DO THE MATH BITCH. If you knew anything about THE JUICE. it would be CLEAR AS DAY. But your just 1 of these dumb fuk fans that dont know shit!

Im just a realist pal. You are in never never land.

  6. Donnybrook says:

    Get well Champ!!

  7. Bobby Larson says:

Wish you a speedy and healthy recovery. Now get your ass back on that couch!

  8. Wes says:

You GSP nut huggers, fuck BORE ST. PIERRE , I wouldnt give two shits if he doesnt get better…here’s how his recovery breaks down 5 rounds boring knee recovery and then he gets the decision in the end and is still champion very very PREDICTABLE.

  9. Michael kk says:

Hes scared to fight nick just like silvas scared to fight chael

    • Eric Laford Faling says:

Nick is the best WW in the world, George should be scared! (^Chael is a little B!tch! Damian Maia put him out, E-Z! He couldn’t finish the spider when Anderson was injured!) I’ve been waiting for Diaz VS St. Pierre for 4 years and This injury Completely RUINS it! Now even if Nick takes Georgie apart, all the F#*Kin HATERS will say GSP wasn’t the same since the “knee”!! I feel bad for Nick he’s worked hard and TAKEN CHANCES! Like a REAL FIGHTER… P.S. to Georgie DON’T BE SCARED HOMIE!

      • Kyle says:

Dope, if that’s the case it will be even more embarrassing for Diaz when GSP recovers and beats his ass like he would have in their original fight.

      • dave says:

yes nick is top ww in the world then condit then gsp…alll u said is rightgsp just worked to hard on his body…he over trained,,,his first fight with matt hughs he looked totally differnt,,,now he is this big ww…i hope he never comes back im tired of point fighters,,i seen enough of his boring point fighting,,everyone gsp takes to decision get finished quickly in there next fight….

      • GRT 3000 says:

I agree Sonnen is a bitch, but not that Diaz is the best WW. GSP is dude…Condit’s going to smash Diaz , imo he’s going to do it in an even more convincing fashion that GSP would. Not that I think Condit would beat GSP necessarily, but we all know GSP hasn’t been finishing dudes in awhile.

    • Chartmonster says:

Condit is more of a threat to the Saint then fkn diaz you fool! Diaz will get his ass handed to him by Carlos..KO!

    • spirit splice says:

scared to fight the guy he made say, “I quit”? Scared to fight the guy who couldnt even give him a black eyes after 400 “strikes” and let Sonnen Tee off on him? Interesting interpretation.

  10. Karl Rivera says:

In France? I thought he’s Canadian? I guess he’s French Canadian then.

  11. CanILive says:

    lol georges you’re still champ…jeez

  12. T.DADDY says:

too bad i wanted to see u fukk bitch ass diaz up

  13. Salvador says:

That sounds like clinical depression. Good Lord Georges no matter how much I don’t like you you’re still the champion.

  14. sf weekly says:

The guy is super down… I honestly feel sorry for who ever is in that mans way when he comes back.. Nothing like hurt pride and having something to prove to motivate a man. A mans pride can make him very dangerous. Get well soon Gsp.

  15. Drew Brees says:

Whether you like the guy or not, and whatever rank you think he has in the WW division he’s still top 3 in his division. I think he’s number one an I like the guy but even if you don’t, you don’t want that good of a fighter out of the ranks for that long, if you like diaz or condit then you want your guy to beat the best so hopefully he has a good recovery so we can see him fight in his prime. fan or no fan he’s good for the sport an this injury isn’t a good thing from any view.

  16. LoL thank god we will never get to see Dick Diaz fight for UFC gold.It is likely him and GSP will never get matched up again and if they do it wont have the same feel as it would have. He is going to get knocked out brutally by the NBK than prlly given Koscheck and lose a UD. (The UFC wont give him Fitch they know he will UD Diaz easy). Fitch deserves the shot more than Diaz i have a hard time believing Diaz would beat Dong Hyun Kim.

    • Ly-er_Ly-er says:

Is anyone else getting that feeling too, that this is probably Fitch’s best chance to attain some kind of UFC gold? I mean if he is truly the perennial #2 best WW (This Interim Title would represent it the best, lol), I really really don’t like the idea of him being any kind of champion, but after Condit vs. Diaz I’m not sure if they can deny him any longer of a title shot!

      • Chartmonster says:

Fitch will always be a top 5 ww. He’s needs to switch up his fighting style and become explosive and more dangerous! Training with greg jackson wouldn’t hurt..he make mountains out of mole hills, not a fan of his but he gets the fkn job done changes your fighting style for the better.

      • GRT 3000 says:

Sadly, you speak the truth. This is prob. Fitch’s bets shot at attaining a UFC belt…;( I just teared up (in a bad way)

    • mmaislandjunkie says:

nick will be the interim champ after he beats condit. he will also probably defend his interim belt once before fighting the shitstain of mma known as gsp.

      • GRT 3000 says:

your wrong island; u underestimate Condit man. he’s going to take Nick out.

      • guamy says:

i agree with islandjunkie. he pulled out of condit fight with a spained ankle LMFAO COMON MAN!!!! to me it looks like him and dana are trying to get some1 to beat nick so GSP DONT HAVE TO FIGHT HIM. I believe that dana knows Diaz will beat GSP thats why he is saving him from a ass woopin. he was supposed to fight him 2 times now and has bailed out. this is starting to look alot more like a boxing promotion every day.

  17. mmadred says:

big time marketing at its best. interm belt adds a new angle.

  18. BX81 says:

Sob, sob! Relax you’re still the champ. All these guys are fighting for is the interm title. He’s still gonna fight the winner unless something crazy happens during recovery.

  19. Ninja Oreo Dollop says:

Maybe GSP over trains…. Get well man, you’re going to have to be your best in order to fight Diaz and his unlimited stamina.

  20. KingGareth says:

Gsp should be stripped of the belt but gets the next available title shot when he is healthy.

  21. James says:

Fuck GSP! What happen to all the gsp trash talk? This site is different now

  22. Fortyb4five says:

Gsp was the champ…then he took an arrow to the knee..

  23. Jordon says:

Dude, nobody can beat him. It’s a sport, those are the rules, and he wins. You people say some really foolish things considering he dominates EVERY fighter he faces. And yes, by dominate i do mean lay and pray from time to time. If it guarantees him a win, then anybody would do it. AS WOULD YOU! Now go talk some more about how he should go out and be a “real fighter” like Wanderlei “MushBrain” Silva. That would be sooo much better for him… I’m not a fan of GSP, but he doesn’t deserve this to happen.

  24. TCP says:

I don’t think he considers himself the champ unless he’s a fighting champ. That’s legit humility. I also think that Condit would have been a tougher fight for him than Diaz. And even though I’m a big fan, I would like to see the old GSP when he comes back from this injury. That happens and you’ll see Diaz asleep…….

  25. GRT 3000 says:

The Saint lives breaths and shits MMA. He’s a disciplinarian like no other…if anyone can come back full strength from that kind of injury, it will be him.

    Vive le GSP!

    • mmaislandjunkie says:

of course he will be back and when he comes back he will LOSE at the hands of nick or carlos, im hopin its nick so he can get talked shit to while getting his pansy face bashed in.

      • GRT 3000 says:

so do you think Nick is going to beat Condit or not? imo Condit is going to slap the shit out of Nick, just wait and see. But neither of these guys is going to beat GSP. He’s too smart, too strong, too disciplined, too talented. I know u hate that but facts are facts. GSP has been the WW champ this long for a reason. Maybe he plays it safe these days (which isn’t that exciting I admit) but if all these fighters in contention already know his gameplan, why can’t they overcome it? B/c he’s better than them, that’s why.

        • mmaislandjunkie says:

smart strong and disciplined isnt what i think gsp fights with, he fights with FEAR. he is scared to lose, he’s scared to challenge his opponents in a real fight and he will use every rule in the ufc to his advantage. no clock limit on keeping an opponent on his back without bettering your position or inflicting damage? check. no need to fight a guy because u know you can get away with that fact? check. can pretend to be injured to avoid a fight? check and check. fool enough ppl out there into thinking they like watching his boring performances? now thats gsps favorite check of all.

        • GRT 3000 says:

yeah well if that’s the list & it’s ‘groundhog day’ everytime GSP gets in the cage, why can’t top fighters take him out then?

        • mmaislandjunkie says:

if the rules favored other types of styles more instead of wrestling than it would be easier but since the current rules are tailored perfectly for gsps safe style he can always run out the clock on his opponents without worry.

        • GRT 3000 says:

we’ve seen plenty of BJJ counter wrestling, and I’ve seen GSP counter a lot of wrestlers; he’s a karate guy to begin with, but of course now an MMA guy. Anderson is no wrestler, look what he’s done. If you look at the UFC straps, there’s only 2 wrestlers that have a belt, JBJ and Edgar. If the rules favor wrestlers, why do we have 4 champs without backgrounds in wrestling?

Yes the clock has run out on GSP in his last 4 fights, but it’s not like he’s squeaking by. The other is seriously fucked up, which clearly indicates 1) GSP just kicked their ass & 2) they can handle a serious ass whipping.

If you look at his record he has 13 wins by sub & ko/tko. 9 decisions, in which 4 came at the very top of the game. Maybe he can’t finish the top-top killers out there, but he sure puts an ass paddling on them.

        • DBKlein69 says:

mmaisland u really are a jackass u cant fake a f*cking torn ACL u moron. now tell ur mom im running late tonite.

        • Damn junkie.. You lay bullshitt like it was a think peanut butter and jelly spam sandwich my bradduh!

  26. DaRuckuz says:

    yea whatevas

  27. Curtis says:

  28. JAT says:

not a fan of gsp, but i hope he gets healed up soon so i can see him fight condit or diaz. either one of those guys would make a good run at him.

  29. elite says:

i don’t understand this interim title shit? what does that mean?

  30. bdizz says:

all fags – Luke Cummo will fuck em all up Yo!

  31. guamy says:

GSP is Scared to fight Diaz plain and simple. Condit is a great fighter also but his bjj is not near the lvl of Diaz i think if gsp fights condit he will be able to takem down and holdem there till the bell rings. if he fights diaz he wont be able to holdem down unless of course he lathers up the oil of olay that is. if GSP is out for 10 months then that will be close to 2 years he hasnt fought. If your the champ and cant fight for over a year you should be stripped of your title. then when you heal up you should get an #1 contender fight or even a immeadiate title shot.

  32. SanSooRob says:

Lol let my drink Gsp tears mmmmm so good lolololol
