UFC NEWS – I Can Take Anyone Down In The UFC, Says Lesnar

“Honestly I feel comfortable on my feet and I don’t feel threatened in any area by this guy (Overeem) at all. There hasn’t been anybody in the UFC that I haven’t been able to take down. The issue is we just have to be able to keep them there.”
During the UFC 141 media rounds, former UFC heavyweight champion, Brock Lesnar talks to ESPN Radio and proclaims himself the UFC’s takedown king.
With only seven-pro fights to his credit, he has successfully taken down all of his opponents inside the cage with his strong wrestling based attacks. But the million dollar question is, will he be able to do so a week from today when he steps in the cage with Alistair Overeem?

The big question for me in choosing the winner here is: how much has Brock’s stand-up improved? Overeem can stuff his takedowns, although Brock may get one. Regardless of whether Brock’s stand-up has improved, I don’t think it can have improved fast enough to handle Overeem’s. Therefore, I give this fight to Overeem. Two rounds sounds about right.
I agree, if Brock can score td’s and go to work he’ll win. But that’s a big IF because of how good Overeem’s td defense is.
I don’t think ‘Reem has what it takes to get out from under neath Brock. If he can manage one takedown, I think it’s a wrap. If Overeem starts getting his strikes off, and can keep Brock from getting a TD, he wins mid 2nd round. I got Brock getting an early TD and finishing this in the first
Yeah, that is possible too. Maybe we will find out if Brock has figured out how to get around the butterfly guard.
The Reem vs JDS for the title! Sorry Brock, but this ain’t no Randy Couture your about to fight. YOU CAN’T TAKE A PUNCH!!
If Brock tries to be macho and stand up with big O , he’ll get knocked out. If he does the smart thing and takes Overeem down he should win by tko stoppage from strikes. I hope Brocks lights go out!
i reckon overall brock is more atheletic and liter on his feet , if he uses that wisely with a great allround game, hell win no sweat, brocks loss to cain was purely inexperience but that doesnt mean he can be a well tuned fighter one day or soon
Overeem will knee him in the face.
brock really needs td from the moment the bell rings.he may had survived carwin’s uppercutsbut i think reem is much better striker than carwin. i got this reem by tko 2nd
i think carwin would knock reem the eff out.
Overeem is the most overrated fighter in the ufc, HANDS DOWN! Who has this guy beat at heavywieght?
As far as take down defense, who is the last “credible” wrestler that he stuffed? Are you gonna tell me that he has better takedown defense than an All-American division one wrestler? or a division 2 national champ?
I’ve got brock winning by tko by 3rd, no problem. Overeem won’t even be able to use his standup cuz it will play right into Brock’s gameplan.
Let’s see ..he’s beaten every Strikeforce heavyweight the UFC just signed as a quality injection to make the UFC HW division a bit more interesting….
WTF are you talking about? He hasn’t beaten Cormier,Bigfoot,or Barnett. Also the last time he faced Sergei he got knocked out..
Reem would lose badly to Cormier. Sergei too.
I’m a Brock hater pure and simple, however I do give credit to him being able to use his impressive size and strength to gnp his way to victory 2 out of 5 fights (his avg chance of winning IMO). I just want to see if his glass jaw is really that fragile, because Reem is going to have this a standup match… Brock just won’t be able to hold him down long enough to win it.
Overeem in the 2nd TKO (KO in the 3rd, if Brock manages to laynpray till then)
glass jaw means he shouldve been knocked out already. Not being able to handle the pressure is inexperience, but glass jaw? The dude got punched over a 100 times each by cain and carwin and still stayed awake to give an interview from joe rogan after. All you guys have to stop with that glass jaw bs. Last time i checked Reem was getting the stinky leg from getting outstruck by a much smaller fighter Gohkan Saki in k1.
