UFC NEWS – Guillard vs. Miller In UFC on FX Main Event Set

UFC officials took to twitter this afternoon to announce the main event for the first ever UFC on FX event set for January 20 and it comes in the form of a three-round bout between Melvin Guillard and Jim Miller.
UFC on FX 1 is set to take place on January 20th at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn. The first ever event on the station will air live and free to channel subscribers. In the main event a lightweight tilt between top contenders Melvin Guillard and Jim Miller will go down and rebound one of the two from recent losses.
Guillard was last seen at UFC 136 getting dominated by Joe Lauzon and tapped out in just 47-seconds of the very first round. In the bout he was staggered by strikes and taken to the mat where he was eventually submitted by a rear naked choke. The loss snapped a five-fight win streak and halted talks of a title shot for the Team Jackson-Winklejohn fighter.
His opponent, Jim Miller also suffered a similar fate recently during the UFC on Versus 5 show where he was put against Benson Henderson and taken out via unanimous decision after a grueling three-round. Prior to the Henderson defeat Miller was the divisions next contender.

Miller will submit guillard
What happened to all main events being 5 rounds?
If he is quick enough to strike first he will ko Miller. When/if Miller takes him down its all over for The Young Assassin. Good fight.
WTF is this shit. Main event and 3 rounds?! CMON’ SON.
get over it and enjoy what you get.
It probably will be five rounds, im sure that was just a typo. This five round main event thing is new, he more than likly just said ‘three round’ outa habit
I will never understand why Joe Silva decides to put two former contenders coming off of a loss against each other. It just doesn’t make sense all the way around.
probably cuz it makes them fight harder knowing whoever loses is really dropping down the ranks. plus these two guys should put on an exciting performance and i think thats usually the bottom line – the entertainment factor.
Every once in awhile your right about something! : )
why wouldn’t he… your statement doesn’t make sense all around.

I sure hope this idiot starts training hard on his submission defense. I like the kid and hoped he would beat Lauzon but was sorely disappointed to see that he looked like the old Melvin that STILL didn’t know a goddamn thing about the ground game, being overly cocky and confident that he could keep it standing in his world. When will you get a clue Guillard, you need the ground game TOO! Good luck on the Miller fight
Dose spinn the bottle or twister count?
THIS is the main event for the first time on FX?? Weak. Very weak. How is two guys coming off a loss a main event?? C’mon Dana…the fans have earned you all this network attention, we deserve better than this for a free main event. Especially considering the stable of fighters at your disposal.
Disappointed
Yeah I was hoping for a little bit more but I won’t judge till I see the show.
Miller via Round 1 Sub Triangle choke!
This is not a main event fight. what a ****ing joke this is.
booooo.. He should join K-1, bet he would beast.. UFC is a different page hes not ready for
Melvin Guillard deserves this he should’ve had a title shot a while ago and he is still one of the top contenders. Plus his fights are always exciting..
Also it’s three rounds because its going t be on public television not a ppv..
I bet Melvin’s been practicing his Sub. Def. and I doubt he will get submitted this time.
He is and he has been for a while, im not a big melvin g. fan but if you look at his fights pre jackson and post jackson you can see his grnd game, sub def, n tkdwn def have improved alot.
He lost that fight to loazan because he went in there all cocky n got caught; his chin was more suspect than his grnd game.
I’m keen for this fight but not impressed it’s a main event
Ya this is barley even main card material. Main event my ass. I was going to go to this one but shit if this is the biggest thing to look forward too why not watch it free.
I agree for the most part, but i think itwould be a good co main event. And o yeah, evan dunnam v melvi guilard was a main event on free tv not all that long ago (melvin was a replacement tho)
Miller is going to kick his ass ..
