UFC NEWS – Frank Mir Thinks Overeem Is In Trouble Against Lesnar
“Brock doesn’t shoot that low. He’ll put his forehead in your chest, and he’s going to run you through. If he’s not able to take you down with that initial blast, he’s going to run you against the cage. Then he’s going to rip your legs out from under you. Now, you should have gotten taken down in the middle of the area, but instead, you’ve been taken down against the cage [where it is more dangerous]. Speaking from experience, that sucks. Now, you have a guy who is not a black belt in jiu-jitsu and who is not a wrestling All-American who is going to be able to get back to his feet, so what does he do? Are you going to try to tell me he’s going to wrestle with a national champion wrestler for five minutes? His cardio is going to suck [after wrestling with Lesnar for a while]. I’ve seen guys with muscles like that, and that’s why he slows down.”
Former UFC heavyweight champion, Frank Mir speaks from experience in this interview with ESPN where he breaks down this Friday’s UFC 141 main event between Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem.
Having gone 1-1 against Lesnar, Mir has firsthand knowledge of the strength, speed and wrestling skills of Brock and believes that Overeem does not have the ability to win this fight.

Brock must’ve really made an impression on Mir, because he’s been keeping it pretty honest when talking about what it feels like to be in there with Brock.
First of all Mir is overrating himself..Lesnar won’t take down Overeem as easy as he took down Mir.
Second Overeem’s knee strikes are the best when his opponent has his head on chest height. So Lesnar will only make it easier for him to bash his face in with devastating knee strikes.

Overeem will toss him aside. His low stance is great to defend take downs. Lesnar can’t bully Overeem like he did to others. Overeem is just as big and strong as he is.

Franks got a point but maybe Alistar will be able to get out from under Brock which Frank couldnt do..Just because Frank took the beating of his life from the bottom doesnt mean Alistar will.. Not to mention Brock has never faced a striker of this caliber. Frank isnt even in the same league with this guy when it comes to stand up..

I guess you are forgetting that Brock fought Shane Carwin and Cain Velazquez! I am not sure who is going to win this one, but Brock has to be cautious and not run into one of those knees if he bullrushes and isn’t careful! On the other hand, Overeem has to avoid getting hit by those “lunchbox fist”, like Couture and Mir called them! Muscles don’t mean chit in MMA.

Frank Mir > Alistair Overeem. Just because Overeem came from PRIDE doesn’t mean hes all that good.. He’s not very impressive at all. He’s a decent striker but mediocre at everything else. His freakish physique is the only reason he’s even in the main event with Lesnar. I could almost say the same about Brock..I gained a little respect for Lesnar after overcoming the beatdown Carwin gave him

Frank Mir is right and I am not a fan of him but he does know the game well.
Frank Mir in theory didn’t have as much to worry about being taken down with having monster jits xp and that didn’t go so well. Reem doesn’t have the skills Mir does on the ground so he better pray Brock doesn’t spear the s#*t outta him coz if he goes down he’ll stay down.
Here’s the thing, overeems striking may be great, but there is no way in Hell he will be able to stop the takedown. And it doesn’t matter who you are, if Lesnar gets on top, you will more than likely stay where you are because he won’t let you up. The only time he had trouble (and he still got the takedown) was against valesquez, who is also a NCAA wrestler. Unless Brock does something stupid and tries to trade shot with alistair, he should win this.

But in the end I won’t mind if JDS wins and keeps the belt anyway, cause I think he’s a great fighter and a really nice genuine guy.

LOL, sorry Chart but k-1 striking does not = mma striking, Reem’s turtle and counter style is well suited for k-1 but horrendous for MMA. Reem said Werdum was catching him because he was worried about the takedown, well Werdum is one of the worst wrestlers in the hw division. He will have that threat and even more in the UFC with a guy who hits 10x harden then Werdum. His glass jaw will crack no doubt, Brock is more of stylistic challenge for JDS, but I want Reem so JDS can KO him in the 1st..
