UFC NEWS – Demian Maia: I can Submit Michael Bisping
“He has a good submission defense but it doesn’t matter. I’ve fought guys before that have never been submitted before many times and I’ve submitted them. I know I have the chance to submit him.”
In a recent interview with mmafighting.com, top UFC middleweight fighter Demian Maia tells the guys that he believes he can submit Michael Bisping in their matchup next month scheduled for UFC on FOX 2.
Demian Maia is one of the world’s very best submission grapplers and while he burst onto the UFC scene submitting his first five opponents he has yet to stop a guy with his grappling prowess since those initial five wins.
The UFC on FOX 2 card features a host of intriguing matchups, however in the Bisping vs. Maia bout it’s Michael Bisping who has much to gain. I doubt the world will rush to see Anderson Silva vs. Demian Maia II anytime soon, but Michael Bisping is the loud mouthed, would be challenger who may pique the interest of many.
OF course, if Maia’s prediction comes to fruition; the count will be forced to the back of the line.

I think Maia will beat him. His striking has improved tremendously and his ground game speaks for itself. It should be an interesting matchup.

I don’t know what will happen….I think the same think I thought about the Miller fight. I thought there were only two possible outcomes, either Miller submits Bisping or Bisping wins a decision. We saw how that turned out.
So we will try it again. Bisping wins decision if he doesn’t get submitted.

I agree 100% – no-ones ever guessing he will win by ko/tko but he’s won 14 of 22 wins by TKO, that’s impressive.
I think Maia has the edge considering his stand has improved much. If Bisping doesn’t get extra sweaty during the fight, I say Maia win by sub.
Maia subs the brit easily. Spitsbing has proven he cant beat a top 10 guy.

Maia took Sonnen down and Sonnen has better wrestling and greco roman than Bisping does.

Maia is the most improved mma fighter who has really learned some great stand up. He can survive on the ground and offer some good exchanges.
Maia has got the submission easily and he has heavy hands compared to Bisping. This one of the easier fights to call.

Bisping is the most underrated fighter in the UFC he has a professional record of 25-3. He has only ever lost to fighters that were or became world champions and has only been stopped once! Bisping will run through Maia!
bisping is a little underrated cuz he is good off his back and has good striking but hes not a top 10 fighter. he also should have an extra loss on his record to matt hammil and a lot of his opponents in the ufc that he fought dont even fight for the ufc anymore i.e. denis kang, jason day, & charles mccarthy. if he beats maia ill give the man his dues but if history repeats itself which it normally does, bisping will lose AGAIN to another top contender then go right back to beating cans.
yes bisping has only lost to future champs but he drops the ball in his major fights hence the 25 wins and no title shots, bisping blows this fight and maia 2nd rnd subs him

I am not a fan of Bisping’s attitude but I would agree that he is a very underrated fighter. I think a lot of people have a hard time admitting he is good because he is such a prick. I hope that Maia wins but I have to give the edge to Bisping.

Takedowns and BJJ is all he needs against him. Bisping is 0-3 against good competition.Soon to be 0-4.
