UFC NEWS – Dana White Guarantees UFC Will Be In New York In 2012

“We’re so close. It’s going to happen, and I guarantee you it’s going to happen this year. It’s going to depend on when it happens, timing and everything else, but obviously, it would be nice to go in there with, probably, Jon Jones.”
Is the last frontier upon us?
According to UFC president Dana White’s most recent interview with ESPN Radio, he believes it is.
He believes that this is the year that the UFC will be in New York.
Political hurdles and very aged regulations have prohibited the UFC from entering the state and it’s the last major market the UFC has to break into.
It’s bound to happen, but only time will tell if it will actually be this year.
Thoughts?

I think the UFC should just say the heck with New York. There is plenty to do in New York, and in my opinion, New York restaurant, hotel, and tourist spot owners do not need the revenue that accompanies the UFC to the cities it stops in. I say keep going to cities that can use the revenue and welcome you with open arms. Portland, Denver, and New Orleans are good examples of small ‘big cities’ that really appreciate what the UFC brings.
you people who say the hell with NY are obviously not from NY. And its quite irritating that ppl always associate NY with JUST NY city- THATS NOT THE CASE!! Im from Buffalo, maybe you’ve heard of it, ya know, the city with the shitty Buffalo Bills and decent Sabres. Well, there’s well over a million in the Buffalo area and, combined with Rochester, its over 2 million. Its so annoying people turn a blind eye to the the rest of the state. Anyway, in Buffalo, UFC is huge, were right near Canada and Canada, I believe is the biggest market for UFC- or one of the biggest. Anyway, can’t wait till it gets here and heading to First Niagara arena to watch some mma action. If you ppl mean NYC, say NYC, if you mean the rest of NY say NY. thankyou.
or perhaps all the people who grew up with Jon Jones, or perhaps some of joe lauzon’s friends, UPSTATE NY wants MMA legalized, not just for UFC purposes either.
New York IS just NYC.
hey micheal i live in new york the new york ufc event would make mega millions in revenue **** new orleans ….GO KATRINA
all you guys will be crying once mma comes to ny because all of celebs and their family and friends will hog the events. the cost will be out the window and airheads will want to start fights and shootouts. the city has enuff arogance and postering that it’s pathetic. i’d rather see it come back to south carolina and north carolina where it originated in the 80′s.
btw, if you threaten the president your ass needs to be dealt with. i don’t care if it’s bush or reagan. respect the office. hell, get mad at your congressman or state senators because their the ones not doing shit.
your thinking is small and dana whites is grand which is why his organization is so successful. hes going after NY because he knows the market there huge and he won’t stop until he gets what he wants. additionally, going to a nice restaurant or seeing a broadway show is not comparable to a live UFC event.
Agree there assholes any way
I being from new jersey disagree but I don’t mind all thenew yorkers spending their money in n like the do for football. I just want morechances to se shows. Not as big as it should be on the east cocoast. Main reason being no ufc in ny. Its kinda comedic that ny senate hasn’t alowed it ye
I don’t see why it has to be about the money. With MMA being illegal in a state, there will always be that argument against it. Sometimes I will argue that it is a safe sport, and the person that I am arguing with will say that it must not be that safe if it is not even legal in some states. Plus, there are people in New York who want it there. Who don’t want to have to travel into other states to fight or watch fights. MMA is more than just the UFC. A lot of people forget that.
I’m a hawaii boy living in NY and a big UFC fan. I think it’s ridiculous that it’s taking this long as there’s actually a lot of interest for MMA here. The bar are packed on big cards, and we have many schools in Ny (ie: Gracie’s, Matt Serra, Jackson camp etc) hell I drove four hours to Boston to see my boy BJ penn lose to Frankie Edgar
Would be nice to have fights in my backyard
NYC SUCKS.
yeah **** new york, the bunch of arogant pricks !!!
FUKK NY!! CHI-TOWN ALL DAY!!
FUKK TFAGGY junkie runs this shit! brock sucks so bad he retired after 8 fights! hahaha
I saw this coming for awhile now. UFC @ MSG with Jones headlining…. against Hendo!
NYC -center of the universe
NY sucks!
What you guys aren’t realizing is that if MMA becomes legal in NY, it allows for local shows such as “Ring of Combat” and the like to take place locally. It would be huge for aspiring fighters in NY who dont have the funds or can’t quite break into the whole Atlantic City scene. New York, as said above, is more than just NYC, and its a big state that could yield some great fighters, so why not give them every opportunity possible? Lets also not forget the UFC is still growing, and the celeb/media presence at an MSG show would be un ****ing real. Huge boost for the sport.
PS- “Dave” and ‘Penn Rules” are both retards
Bj It would be great to see you fight in New York just once! What do you say? For old times sake do it for me and clint!
Most people put down ny sucks and I have to agree, I lived here all my life and want to get the f…. out. People here are not good, either you conform to being a jerk or your an outsider.
i hope so…
me too…
word…
please make it happen, captain!
Woohoo…
all you people putting down NY and NYC make me laugh…there are assholes in every state….besides, i’m sure plenty of people would still travel to NY state for MMA once it’s made legal (and they’d probably want to check out NYC-one of the most famous cities in the world). Who cares where it is, it’s the events that should be important to you…bunch of drama queens
the boxing lobbby is keeping UFC out of New York. Common sense is going to tell Mayor Bloomberg to support this for the revenue it provides.. The roof will come off Madison Square Garden when UFC gets there…..WE ARE LIVE!!!!
