Well this certainly changed my perspective of Mr. Sonnen a bit more. I feel like social ideals aside, he would be a very nice person to crack a few open and chat with.

Chael is the epitome of a mixed martial artist. He’s not this brash, shit talking badass from the mean streets of West Linn, Oregon that most everybody sees. He’s just that guy don’t the street who loves fighting as much as the other guy. I respect Sonnen because of where he came from and what he still believes today.

I think he meant the PRO fighters. If I’m not mistaken Sonnen said he was still an amateur fighter back then..
I dunno, I’m sure he said whether or not you get paid is the distinction between being an amateur or a pro and his fights as an amateur weren’t in the UFC.

Mr. Sonnen is a good fight promoter. Don’t take what he says about other fighters too seriously. He does what he needs to do to sell tickets and to boost PPV sales. People don’t want to part with their money to see 2 guys that like and respect each other climb into the cage together.

I laugh at how people consider Sonnen a trash talker. He’s had a long career with little trash talking. He relentlessly pursued the belt in his weightclass, and the beltholder is Anderson Silva, a guy who Chael feels is avoiding him. He has stated himself that he talks trash about Silva because he wanted to fight him before, and he wants to fight him again. Since the Silva shit, Chael has of course responded to some of the hype he gained, and played up to it, but his early career has went by without any serious trash talking, since Silva he fought Brian Stann, who he was respectful towards, and now Munoz/Bisping, which hasn’t had any serious trash talking which I’m aware of.
I think Sonnen is a funny guy, and the best personality in the sport. As for his Silva fight, he lost. But if ever there has been a fight in the UFC that deserves an immediate rematch, that is it.
