UFC NEWS – Chael Sonnen A Huge Favorite Over Bisping, Maia Underdog To Weidman
In the most recent betting odds for next week’s UFC on FOX 2 event, odds makers have Chael Sonnen pegged as more than a 4-1 favorite over his counterpart Michael Bisping.
Additionally, longtime division standout Demian Maia is the underdog to last minute replacement opponent Chris Weidman, who is currently unranked in the division.
Smart money is on Maia based on statistical information and rankings, but one cannot overlook the good money bet in Bisping to pull the upset and yield a huge return on your investment.
Sonnen is the favorite for obvious reasons and one can hardly argue against that point. But playing devil’s advocate, in Bisping you have a fighter that since dropping to middleweight has only tasted defeat at the hands of Dan Henderson and Wanderlei Silva. He has taken out top prospects like Chris Leben, Dennis Kang and Dan Miller.
After starting his career with a 14-fight unbeaten streak Bisping eventually tasted defeat for the first time in a decision loss to former champion Rashad Evans. The loss prompted his departure from the UFC’s light-heavyweight division for a move to 185 pounds where he has put together an impressive 8-2 run which includes his most recent four-fight win streak.
Is Bisping a lock to beat Sonnen? No, he is not, but he has much more of a chance than odds makers are putting out there. If you’re a gambler throwing a small chunk on Bisping for the upset will pay dividends should he pull it off.

Serra can’t touch Demian in jiu jitsu match, so I don’t reckon his protegé will give Maia much trouble on the ground.

Like it or not wrestling is dominate in mma. Maia has experience over weidman but realistically wrestling neturalizes gameplans. Weidman is san excellent wrestler, so for that and other reasons I agree with Maia as an underdog but one worth putting money on.
Wrestling nullifies good BJJ? Did u even see what Maia did to Sonnen? and Sonnen is light years ahead of Weidman in wrestling. You are an absolute idiot.
Sonnen takes chances and I agree that bjj is an answer to winning on the ground but but take gsp for an example he is a dominate fighter because of his wrestling. 9 x out of 10 I’d pick a wrestler over bjj. I guess we will find out come Jan. 28th.

The fact that Bisping lost to Wanderlei shows exactly why he’s an awful pick. Wanderlei is over the hill. He’s a shell of his former self, and Bisping is the style to beat him.

I think Bisping is a better fighrter than what most of you give him credit for. nevertheless I think he will lose this one.
