UFC NEWS – Bisping vs. Maia Added To UFC on FOX 2 Televised Card

The UFC announced this morning that their UFC on Fox 2 “triple header” will now include a middleweight matchup between top contenders Michael Bisping and Demian Maia.
UFC on FOX 2 is set to go down from Chicago’s United Center on January 28 live on FOX TV. In the main event, Phil Davis will square off with Rashad Evans for the number one contender seat in the UFC’s light-heavyweight division ruled over by Jon Jones. The co-feature of the evening is a middleweight number one contender bout between Mark Munoz and Chael Sonnen.
Bisping is fresh off of his three-round destruction of Jason “Mayhem” Miller. The two coached opposite each other on the 14th season of “The Ultimate Fighter” and faced off in the traditional coach vs. coach matchup this past weekend. The victory gave Bisping his fourth straight win in the UFC’s middleweight division since posting only his second divisional loss to Wanderlei Silva. Since dropping to middleweight the British fighter has posted an impressive 8-2 record.
Maia last saw the inside of the Octagon in his UFC 136 victory over Jorge Santiago. The Santiago victory bounced him back from his prior defeat at the hands of Mark Munoz. The former number one contender has notched three wins in his last four bouts.

As long as maia keeps improving his standup he will do fine against bisping
I think so brow. And if the fight goes to the ground, it will be for submission.
Let´s just hope for his cardio!
yeah, maia looked good against munoz. and bisping doesn’t have that much power and fears getting hit. so if maia can make it uncomfortable for bisping on the feet, that should mean a win for him.
Interesting fight. Can Maia make Bisping respect his striking so he doesn’t have to resort to diving for sloppy takedown attempts? If he can, I think he wins this fight. If he’s totally outclassed on his feet, I think he has no shot, and Bisping walks through him with a 2nd round tko
maybe maia a few years ago wouldn’t do so well standing against bisping… but i think maia’s improved. looked comfortable standing w/munoz. i think he’s got this one against bisping. bisping doesn’t like to get hit (sounds dumb, right? who does?!) but he looks really uncomfortable defensively speaking… he does good when his opponent is just standing there covering up, but apply pressure and bisping hasn’t shown me anything that proves he can handle it. just turns scared looking. i think maia, or i hope at least, can bang up bisping a little before he takes him down and subs him.
The humble Damian Maia, for da win, greatly improved stand up, World class Jitz decent cardio and a big heart, besides that I dislike Bitchping and want to see him lose.
agreed
Now lets see how bisbing does.
I like Damian but I don’t see this win for bis getting him closer. Damien is awesome guy but not top five. Seems like its a fight thrown together. Let’s see bis fight someone top five. I wanna see him get falconed punched again
Falcoooooo- Punch!!
Bisping will win via tko!! Maia I have respect for,but I believe bispings supierier stand up and v.decent takedown defence,is as good as anybodys in the division….no matter how much of a **** I think he is!!
Maia’s gotta get Bisping in the clinch use his grappling and judo to get the takedown.
Damien has hugely improved stand up tho
Thats right he does, but he’s gotta use all his resources in this fight.
There’s hugely improved,thens there’s good anyway,and improving….bisping tko
miesha tate can KO bisping, thats how bad he is
i hope the rashaad fight isn’t a lay and pray or hugging match.
The same guys slating Bisping are the ones saying “Please sir mr bisping sir. Can you please sign my ass crack please mr bisping sir!” Bisping by decision.
MW Showdown. Should be able to find the next title contender
I see Bisping keeping it on the feet and beating Maia in 3.
JB
tell me your top 5 if maia isnt there and dont even say brian stann he isnt even top 10 very over rated he is and sonnen showed that
1. silva
2. sonnen
3.vitor
4.munoz
5.maia
6.bisping
Every body on the left side of their pics will win
close the two on the far right……you got wrong!
Say what you will about Mia’s “world class bjj” but he has not looked impressive to me like he was During his 4 fight win streak coming into the UFC. His past few fights have been lay n pray is a way….Went for 2 subs in 4 fights….
