UFC NEWS – 23 Million Brazilian Households Tuned In For UFC 142 Last Weekend

UFC 142 went down last Saturday from Rio de Janeiro’s HSBC Arena. In the main event featherweight weight champion Jose Aldo put his belt on the line against the undefeated Team Alpha Male product, Chad Mendes and with one second left in the first round knocked out the Sacramento resident to retain his title.
In the co-main event Vitor Belfort earned his moniker “The Phenom” and took the fight straight to Anthony Johnson. Winning the fight on the feet and taking his opponent out on the ground with an eventual rear naked choke to win the contest in the first frame of action.
On the television front “UFC 142: Aldo vs. Mendes” pulled strong numbers amongst the Brazilian audience.
Airing via tape-delay on Brazils number one TV network “Globo” 23million Brazilians tuned in to watch their countryman go 9-1 on the evening’s card. These numbers double the TV stations average and earned the spot a 14.6 rating average.

A major media company in open channel TV bought the transmissions rights, so the main card or the main fights are free. But it’s only with the major events related to Brazil/Brazilian, like both UFCs in Rio.
Brazil is a poor country, if they had to ppv almost no one would be able too.
