UFC Has Eyes For China This Year | UFC NEWS

by: Chris Taylor
It began in August 2010, when the UFC officially opened up offices in Asia. Former NBA executive Mark Fischer was hired by the UFC to lead the charge. It had taken some time to lay out the initial ground work, but it was just a few months ago that UFC president Dana White had this to say about about the future event:
“We’re going to do a fight in China. So imagine our first fight in China, we’re talking about doing it in conjunction with the Venetian out there,” he went on to say, “Imagine the first fight in China; it’s going to be huge.”
Now, it would appear that the UFC is on the brink of making their Chinese debut. On Tuesday, Dana White confirmed to MMAWeekly.com that the UFC will make its debut in China this year!
“We are going to China this year, that’s already happening,”
“We’re doing an Ultimate Fighter there too; that’s all gonna happen.”
Although Dana White did not provide any specific date for the UFC’s first event in China, expect things to move fast over there. I lived in China a few years ago, and believe me they are ready for the UFC. There is some great potential in the Chinese market, and I expect the UFC will capitalize on it.
