The Brazilian athletic commission, CABMMA, that oversaw UFC Fight Night 29 has released the results of the mandatory drug tests, and all fighters passed.
CABMMA officials confirmed that all fighters were tested for performance-enhancing drugs, drugs of abuse and masking agents. All test results were negative for such substances.
UFC Fight Night 29 took place less than one week ago on October 9 at Jose Correa Arena in Barueri, Brazil.
The fight that received the most attention that night was between Mike Pierce and Rousimar Palhares. Palhares was able to secure a heel-hook submission in the first 31 seconds of the fight, but he held onto the hold well after Pierce tapped out literally and verbally and despite the referee’s attempt to stop the fight. CABMMA suspended Palhares for 120 days for his unsportsmanlike conduct, and the UFC later released him.
The co-main event saw Dong Hyun Kim knock out Erick Silva. The result brought Kim to the top ten of the welterweight division.
The main event was a five-round battle between Jake Shields and Demian Maia. Shields was able to outpoint the Brazilian in a split decision, bringing himself into the UFC’s top-10 and dropping Maia down on spot to number 5.
