UFC Fight Night 28 Results: Ali Bagautinov Claims TKO Victory Over Marcos Vinicius in the 3rd Round

By JAKE CHASTAIN

| This was a great fight to start the UFC FIght Night 28 main card bouts. Both these men displayed great technique, power, and precision in this fight and it ended just the way most fight fans hope for.

Round one began with Bagautinov bringing the pressure to Vinicius. After trying to go for a takedown Bagautinov rocked Vinicius with a hook and then spun to the back of Marcos and started landing big bombs. Somehow Vinicius recovered, hit a nice roll, created a scramble and ended up taking the back of Bagautinov. He was unsuccessful with any of his submission attempts but did score a big slam to secure another takedown at the end of the round. BJPenn.com scored that round 10-9 for Vinicius.

The second round began with Bagautinov trying to land more big power shots. In the process he secured a takedown on Vinicius. After Vinicius momentarily escaped Bagautinov hit a nice trip to land another takedown. After Vinicius landed some elbows from the bottom Bagautinov decided to let Marcos back to his feet. Both men landed some nice, powerful strikes, but nothing to daze either man. In the final seconds of the 2nd round Bagautinov scored another takedown on Vinicius against the cage and ended the frame in top position. BJPenn.com scored the round 10-9 for Bagautinov for the control and three takedowns he landed in the round.

With one round a piece it was likely that the 3rd round would be the deciding frame of the fight. Oddly, neither man opened up early. Vinicius backed up, clearly worried about the takedowns of Bagautinov. That didn’t help much as Bagautinov landed a clean straight right that landed flush on the jaw of Marcos Vinicius and dropped him. Bagautinov followed up with 3 or 4 more right hands that put the lights of Vinicius out and earned himself a TKO victory.

What a great fight to start the main card of UFC Fight Night 28. The Russian, Bagautinov, has let the entire UFC flyweight division know that he has one punch KO power and is a big task for any fighter. His wrestling and power make him a rising prospect in the UFC. We’ll keep an eye on this kid.
