Jonathan Brookins was the most boring fighter ever. I get how some people aren’t strikers and just wanna bring the game to the ground, but when he FINALLY got it there… he did nothing except lay on Kock. What a disappointing fight. He said he’d win by sub too, lol. The rest of the card delivered some good stand up and grappling. Randy Couture fights with a similar style, but capitalizes with some strikes and sub attempts. Brookins threw about 5 strikes and the were counters anyway. He needs some aggression.

The problem w Gsp is he doesn’t go for the kill not that he couldn’t do it. Maybe he’ll evolve and start going for it bc Condit is going to push him to fight.
The only problem is that he evolved into this “safe” fighter. He used to have good striking and Ground and pound( you probably know about his ground and pound now
) But since he was laid out by Serra he takes a different approach. For the guaranteed win over a flashy win. If GSP wasn’t champ, and didn’t have such bargaining power with his contract I bet he would finish a lot more fights.

Ellenbereger didn’t take one little bit of damage and i think it only makes sense for the UFC to give Ellenberger a quick turnaround fight with Fitch ASAP. Fitch is probably shaking in his boots at what he saw tonight. I don’t care one bit if there was already talk about Fitch vs Hendricks the UFC changes fights more than a newborns diapers and knowing how the UFC wants to get rid of Fitch this is the fight that makes the most sense. no way in hell Fitch will be able to lay n pray ellenberger and I predict same outcome as tonight if they give Ellenberger Fitch.

Fitch is no more skilled than Sheilds and Ellenberger would K O him inside 2 rounds. Fitch is getting old and his recent injury is a sign of that and whats to come for him. Fitch will lose to Elleberger, Story, Rory Mcdonald and maybe even Hendricks at some point in the near future and the UFC will release him because he has ZERO fan appeal and ZERO PPV draw yet his salary is far far above much much more exciting fighters who i mentined above that everyone can’t wait to see fight and last and more importantly Dana can’t stand Fitch or his boring ass lay n pray stalling and running out the clock tactics

Fitch is highly schooled at lay n pray and cutting weight and using it to lay on his opponents. fitch actual fighting skills are well below sub par at best. Fitch has the punching power 5 year old. his cereal box jits blackbelt must not include submissions. mark my words Fitch will be out of the UFC in 2012

Sheilds was alot higher ranked than Mcdonald so it only makes sense to give Ellenberger to Fitch and then we can all celebrate Elleberger knocking Fitches head clean off his shoulders and never having to worry about fitch ever getting another (undeserved) shot at the title. I think Condit is going to UPSET GSP and if UFC will let Ellenberger destroy Fitch then down the road we can see Condit vs Ellenberger for gthe title and GSP vs Fitch is a losers bracket fight which will show all the fans what a waste of time it would’ve been to ever have given Fitch another shot at GSP’s title

It was a great move by Ellenberger to go for the Muay thai clinch in close. I’ve never seen anyone do that, or attempt it in Shield’s previous fights. Perfect answer for Shields, who always drops down for the takedown when his opponent is in close like that. I have a feeling he was coached to do that. Was just so perfect!

Yeah Zack you couldn’t have been more accurate in saying the new breed of UFC fighters are comin and we all got a taste of what the old lay n prayers and point fighter like GSP and Fitch nightmares are going to be. We all saw what Mike Pierce did to Fitch in round 3 of their fight after he figured out how to get out from under Fitches lay n pray and Ellenberger is far and above better striker/wrestler than pierce who is undersized for WW and as we have seen lie in BJ fight those are great matchups for Fitch cause he cuts almost 40 pounds and puts it back on by fight time. However fighters like Elleberger and Rory mcdonald, condit are going to KO Fitch and GSP IMO and i can’t wait. GSP has bored us to death since his last great fight where he absolutely destroyed Jon Fitch in one of the worst beatings in UFC history. GSP is now an over cautiuos over thinking point fighter who is afraid to commit because of what little natural 5’5″ Matt serra did to him. We will never see tghe old GSP again and if we do he will get KO’d in an exchange with Condit or Ellenberger.
We may see it again. Sitting at the top of the food chain has made him greedy to keep the belt, rather than go all out. When the dude engages he’s a monster – but he stays to the outside now and wins off points. Someone needs to charge in aggressive and get him into an actual fight – maybe Condit will be the one who upsets him, OR puts him in a position where he is forced to demonstrate his full range of ability.
…& I don’t like Fitch either. He’s a big weight cutter as you’ve said, which gives him the lay and pray advantage over smaller fighters. You’ll notice how busy he stays on top so the fight doesn’t get stood up. It’s a tactic he leverages from his weight advantage and a ****ing boring one at that.

Joe Rogan said that it was a judgement call on whether to give it to Brookins for just leaning on the guy the whole time. He kept saying the whole fight that Brookins was the aggressor. That isn’t what I was saying at all, the exact opposite in fact. I think Brookins did no damage and barely even controlled the fight. He was tagged way more times than Koch. Next time you wanna run your mouth, listen and learn to read.
I though Brookins won the fight hands down. how come no mention is made of all the solid elbows Brookins landed on the fence. I watched that fight 3 different times on DVR and i don’t see how even one round was given to Koch. Brookins did a hell of alot more damage than Guida did against pettis and Brookins controlled the entire fight. Kcoh was on the defensive 90 % of the fight. i’m not even a Brookins fan but i saw nothing that said Koch should ahve gotten the NOD

Brookins landed elbows and controlled the fight, yes Koch is the better striker but he never really was able to do anything spectacular and boring or not brookins should have got the nod. Fitch has never once in his life hurt anyone with his pitter patter punches that couldn’t hurt my little sister.

Ellenberger threw him to the ground like he was flicking an irritating little flee off of him. I’m a GSP fan, but he should take some notes from Ellenberger on how to go in for the kill and finish the fight.

Fitch said himself he weighs walks around at 185-195 every fighter pretty much loses weight before a fight. Lets look at BJ for instance I could say he is a natural 185 guy since he fought Machida around that weight I think. When he was fighting 155 im sure BJ walked around at close to 170 thats 15 lbs right there. If you look at Fitch standing next to a MW fighter he is not even close to same body type. Put Fitch next to Anderson Silva and look at size difference it is way off. Bottom line is if he can make the weight so be it. He also does it so EZ how many times have you seen Fitch miss weight. If he is putting on 40 lbs before a fight then like 30 to 40 lbs back on in 24 hrs is pretty freakish. Nope not happening. Problem everybody is having with Fitch is he is the San Antonio spurs of the UFC most people think he is boring but they get mad when he kicks the crap out of there fighter.

Actually Fitch started his career at 205 and got his ass kicked and i doubt being a wrestler he walked into the cage at his walkaround weight. regardless Dana calls the shots and in his opinion Fitch lost 2 rounds to a lighweight and also BJ tore apart Fitch’s labrum or shoulder during that match. With all these killers like Ellenberger, Condit, Rory Mcdonald tearing up the welterweight class i think its pretty obvious the UFC has very little motivation to even see fitch fight. Dana already said he stinks up the fight cards and he may be forced to put him on the prelims becasue the fans simply have no desire to see fitch’s lay n pray, wet blanket, leghumping act he calls fighting. No the fans have spoken and Dana has answered Condit vs GSP for starters. IMO Fitch’s days are numbered in the UFC maybe another year if he wins but after his next loss Dana has already said when Fitch loses they will release him.
