UFC 172 in Baltimore adds Luke Rockhold vs. Tim Boetsch

A key middleweight bout between Luke Rockhold (11-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) and Tim Boetsch (17-6 MMA, 8-5 UFC) is the latest addition to April’s UFC 172 event in Baltimore. UFC officials announced the fight Tuesday morning.

The final Strikeforce middleweight champion, Luke Rockhold, is coming off his first UFC win, which he earned this past month over Constantinos Philippou in the main event of ‘UFC Fight Night 35.’ Rockhold took home the events “Knockout of the Night” honors, as he stopped Philippou with a viscous kick to the body.

Meanwhile, Tim Boetsch got back in the win column in October with his split decision victory over C.B. Dollaway at the UFC 166 event in Houston, Texas. Prior to that, “The Barbarian” had dropped back to back fights to Mark Munoz and Constantinos Philippou respectively.

The UFC 172 event takes place on April 26 live from Maryland’s Baltimore Arena. The evenings main card will air on pay-per-view, with the prelims airing live on FOX Sports 1.

UFC 172 is headlined by a light heavyweight title bout between current champion Jon Jones and number 1 contender Glover Teixeira.

Rockhold……it’s gonna get ugly for Boetsch, I wished it was Bisping that would get beat on instead.

  2. mcgiggles says:

After that robbery Boetsch got away with against CB Dollaway, I hope Rockhold knocks him out.

  3. seminalcacti says:

I think this is a well matched fight. Boetsch has proven that he can come back from adversity and can handle the conditioning and grappling of great wrestlers. Can’t wait for this one.
