There could be another head-to-head standoff coming on February 1st besides that between Bantamweight Champion Dominic Cruz and Interim Champion Renan Barao. Though this is certainly not set in stone, it is possible that the NFL may reschedule its Super Bowl date for February 1st, 2014.
The Super Bowl is one of America’s biggest nights in sports, and is currently scheduled to air on February 2nd, 2014. However, because of a contingency plan that the NFL has in place in case of inclement weather, they are allowed to reschedule to insure the big game goes as planned.
As Daniel Kaplan Business Sports Journal reports,
“NFL head of events Frank Supovitz reiterates contingency plans in place that could see Super Bowl start day early, or day late or later.”
The Super Bowl will be held at the Met Life Stadium, a huge open air venue in East Rutherford, New Jersey which is an area that is often prone to torrential and unpredictable winter weather, so the NFL is taking all the precautions necessary to make sure that everything can still continue as planned.
Currently there is absolutely nothing to worry about for the time being, but it just leaves you to imagine how the UFC would work its way around this problem if a schedule change was necessary for the NFL.
