UFC 162 just added Leben vs. Craig, Baczynski vs. Melancon | UFC NEWS
Two fights have been added to UFC 162: Silva vs. Weidman. Chris “The Crippler” Leben (22-9) will take on Andrew “The Highlight” Craig (8-1) and Seth “The Polish Pistola” Baczynski (18-9) will go head-to-head against Strikeforce veteran Brian Melancon (6-2). UFC 162 is slated to take place on July 6, 2013 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.
The featured fight for the event is a middleweight championship bout between middleweight champion Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman.
Leben is looking to make a “highlight” in his fight record. He lost 3-of-his-last-4 fights in the UFC. His last win was in last July when he defeated Wanderlei Silva via knockout at 27 seconds in the first round. He lost two fights in a row after that. Craig is coming off of a loss from last January against Ronny Markes at UFC on FX 7: Belfort vs. Bisping via unanimous decision. That fight stopped Craig’s 8-fight-win streak.
The Polish Pistola was on a 6-fight-win streak until a unanimous decision didn’t go in his favor. He lost against Mike Pierce at UFC on FX 6 – Sotiropoulos vs. Pearson last December. Melancon will make his debut in the UFC. He won his last fight against Felipe Portela via unanimous decision at Strikeforce: Challengers 19 in September 2011.
UFC 162 lineup now includes:
- Anderson Silva vs. Chris Weidman – for middleweight title
- Mark Munoz vs. Tim Boetsch
- Roger Gracie vs. Tim Kennedy
- Chris Leban vs. Andrew Craig
- Seth Baczynski vs. Brian Melancon

Idk why, but I feel as of late with the cards Anderson Silva is on, the ufc doesn’t really stack them. I hope they put a greater co-mainevent then whats being shown, on paper it just looks bad, I know the fights could end up great, but chances are they won’t be so much. I thought it would’ve been awesome if they moved the aldo/pettis fight as a co-mainevent for this card or even have anderson fight on the August card in Rio, and give Weidman man his wish, but only knock him out.
