UFC 162 Drug Tests All Come Back Clean

By JAKE CHASTAIN

| UFC 162 took place last Saturday, July 6th, in Las Veg, Nevada and today the Nevada State Athletic Commission released its report for the post-fight drug tests submitted by the event’s competitors.

The NSAC confirmed that that all 22 fighters who were tested for illegal/banned substances after competing at at UFC 162 in Las Vegas have all passed their tests and the fans will not be presented with any shocking news to add to the already overly-surprising event.

Each competitor was screened for PEDs (performance enhancing drugs) such as steroids, as well as drugs of abuse like cocaine and marijuana, among others. All the results from the post-fight tests came back negative; a huge relief for the UFC.

We previously reported that Chris Leben was issued a therapeutic use exemption (TUE) for the prescription opioid medication Suboxone, but aside from that there was no other big news stemming from the drug tests from this event, which is always a good thing.

The night was filled with thrills as Chris Weidman knocked-out Anderson Silva to dethrone the former champ and become the new UFC Middleweight Champion. But that wasn’t all:

We also saw Frankie Edgar put on a solid performance to earn himself FOTN honors and a decision victory over Charles Oliveira and the fans were treated to another amazing  FOTN battle as Cub Swanson stopped Dennis Siver in the third round to earn himself his fifth consecutive victory.

Mark Munoz also battered Tim Boetsch in an exciting middleweight scrap and Tim Kennedy put the crowd to sleep in his win over Roger Gracie.

With all the drug tests coming back clean and the rumored investigation of a hefty bet on the UFC 162 title fight being squashed it seems that Chris Weidman can finally sit back and fully enjoy his new spot atop the UFC middleweight division…for now.
