UFC 159 | Post-fight bonuses: Healy nabs two with win over Miller
As a strange and bizarre night comes to a close, post-fight bonuses were handed out after Saturday’s UFC 159 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
The night – headlined by Jon Jones’ successful UFC light heavyweight title defense over Chael Sonnen via stoppage late in the first round – was dotted with two Technical Decisions due to eye pokes, a dislocated thumb, and one very significant toe break.
Here are the night’s post-fight bonus winners, with each earning $65,000. It was a profitable night for Pat Healy, as he earned two bonuses for his lightweight fight with Jim Miller. Healy earned Submission of the Night with a nice rear naked choke that made Miller go limp. The back-and-forth battle between the two bearded grapplers also earned Fight of the Night honors.
Heavyweight Roy ‘Big Country’ Nelson once again brought lighting earning Knockout of the Night with his first round KO of Cheick Kongo. Nelson landed a big right and then sealed the deal to improve to 19-7.
