UFC 159: Jones vs. Sonnen set for April 27 in Newark, N.J. | UFC News
The previously announced title fight between “TUF” coaches Jon Jones (17-1 MMA, 11-1 UFC) and Chael Sonnen (27-12-1 MMA, 6-5 UFC) now has an official date, as their fight will headline the UFC 159 event set for April 27 in Newark, New Jersey.
Jones and Sonnen served as the coaches on the 17th edition of “The Ultimate Fighter,” which debuts January 22 on FX. However, their fight will not be a part of the “TUF 17″ finale, but instead headline the UFC 159 PPV event.
Jon “Bones” Jones most recently saw action at UFC 152 this past September, where he defeated a very game Vitor Belfort to retain his 205-pound title. The New York-based Jones now returns to the Prudential Center, where he first claimed the UFC light heavyweight title by defeating Shogun Rua at UFC 128.
Meanwhile, Chael Sonnen looks to rebound from a July loss he suffered to longtime middleweight champ Anderson Silva at UFC 148. After losing to Silva for a second time, Sonnen made the decision to move up in weight and try the 205-pound waters. He was initially slated to meet Forrest Griffin at UFC 155, however, he opted out of that fight to instead take the “TUF 17″ coaching role opposite light heavyweight champ Jon Jones.
“UFC 159: Jones vs. Sonnen” is set to take place April 27th live from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The event will be on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook. Currently, Jones vs. Sonnen is the only fight announced for the card.

Watching Silva squirm and get beaten on for 4 1/2 rounds was MAGICAL.. If he didnt do that damn lame ass spinning backfist in the second fight, then he would have prolly had it. The first round was identical to the first fight..
