UFC 156 Scheduled for January 19th in Brazil: Aldo vs. Edgar Likely Headliner | UFC NEWS
The UFC will make a return to Brazil for the fifth time since August of 2011 on January 19th when they present UFC 156. They have not yet announced a host city as of yet.
Dana White was on the “Morning Zoo” program on KLUC FM in Las Vegas and spoke about how successful all of the shows have been since returning to Brazil with UFC 134. The Brazilian crowds are deafening when one of their own is competing and their passion is a huge reason the UFC plans to visit the South American hotbed as often as possible.
Earlier this month Anderson Silva competed at light heavyweight for the third time in his career and earned a TKO victory over Stephan Bonnar in the main event of UFC 153. Who can ever forget Jose Aldo running into the crowd after knocking Chad Mendes out in the first round of their featherweight title bout at UFC 142 in January?
Aldo was originally scheduled to face Erik Koch in the main event of UFC 153, but Koch was injured and in stepped former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar who would have been making his debut at 145lbs., but Aldo was injured in a motorcycle accident and that bout was scrapped.
Could the UFC try and put this bout together for this upcoming event? It makes sense and would definitely bring in a huge crowd full of raucous Brazilian fans.

WAR! Edgar!
Easy payday for Aldo. Edgar will get hurt real bad.
I’d have to pick Aldo in this. Edgar has a habit of getting hit hard and Aldo is a pretty great finisher. Leg kicks to take away FE’s movement, and punches/knees for the finish. Aldo in brutal fashion.
Edgar is going to make Ho’seyy Swallowed look like BJ Penn. Just wait n see how he outpoints that fcker. Smalldoe is going to look tired, out of shape and like a heavy breather. He forgot his stamina over at WEC
He doesn’t need stamina against Edgar. Edgar will be face down before the end of the first round.
Another garbage post by the clown Jasplanet. Aldo will be faster than Frankie, he will hit Frankie hard and Frankie won’t have an answer.
Jose Aldo Is A Monster.. Franke Edgar Is A Legend.. Love Them Both Its A Very Good Fight, Cant Wait.
Frankie Edgar is not a legend how in your eyes is he a legend
Edgar should not take Bs fight and beat bendo for the third straight time to get his 155lb belt back.
Your dumb.
Frankie Edgar beat the Legend Bj Penn TWICE, gaining a 155 LW Championship title.
Went on to Compete in an epic trilogy against Top Ranked Lower Back Tat Gray Maynard.
And was Robbed twice in technical bouts against now champ Ben Henderson.
Hm… cannot say many people have done that in the UFC.
if so. please name them.
This fight makes no sense at all, the article is very wrong. That would almost be as stupid and ridiculous as Jones vs. Sonnen for the LHW belt if it actually happens. Edgar’s never fought at featherweight, just like Sonnen’s never fought at LHW in the UFC.
@Your Dumb… Whats Wrong With Saying Sum1 Is A Legend?… If I Think He Is A Legend, Then I Will Put It & In MY Opinion Franke Edgar Is An Absolute Legend.
lmao Fe is not a legend. also why do you capitalize every ****ing word?
So Retards Like You Understand Mate.. Why Do Some People Always Have Something Negative To Say?.. Franke Edgar Is 1 Of My Favourite Fighters & In MY opinion He Is A Legend.
for me edgar is still a champion even without the belt. i still believe he won his last two fights and now that he drops down to 145 it is just rightful for him to have this title bout.
