I absolutely love many foreign fighters and their abilities, BUT I would NEVER root for them over an American, even if that American sucked…..For instance, I think Kampmann is fantastic and I think his striking is awesome and he has heart I would love to see him be champ, but I rooted for Ellenberger to win cuz he is American. Now when he fights GSP for the title, I will root for him, even though I like GSP as well. I don’t see it any other way..If he fights Condit, even though I don’t really like Condit and like Kampmann much more, I would 100% root for Condit because he is American. Unpatriotic people cannot be counted on and I don’t trust them…It’s a character issue…

People act like every fight is Rocky Balboa vs. Ivan Drago. Most fights don’t have any overt nationalistic themes. They are just contests between individuals who generally don’t go out of the way to represent anything other than their families and gym/dojos. You don’t see many Brian Stanns. He makes a point of identifying himself as a former marine and he looks like central casting asked for a starting college quarterback.
