UFC 147: Preliminary card results and recap.
Felipe Arantes vs Milton Vieira
Round 1: A touch of the gloves and the featherweight match-up is underway. Arantes bounces around but he’s not throwing anything. Arantes with a kick to the body. Vieira answers with some right hands. Arantes throws a few low kicks and then a punch, Vieira ducks under the punch and takes the action to the mat. Vieira moves to half-guard. Final minute, and Vieira lands some decent strikes from the top. He moves to side control and closes out the round in top position.
Round 2: Vieira opens with a few kicks. Arantes responds with a flying knee that lands on the chin of Vieira. Vieira backs away and tries to dive for a takedown, but his attempt his negated. Arantes stalks Vieira and lands a kick to the leg. Vieira misses a few wild overhands, and fails on another takedown attempt. Arantes continues to chop at the leg. Vieira lands a wild hook, but Arantes is unfazed and again chops the knee. Final minute, spinning heel kick lands for Vieira, and staggers Arantes. He wobbles back in retreat but actually manages to hit top position when the two hit the floor. Round ends with a scramble.
Round 3: Arantes lands a switch kick followed by some punches, causing Vieira to back off. Arantes takes the fight to the floor but it results in a stalemate so the referee stands up the fighters. Arantes lands a spinning kick to the body. Vieira tries for a kick, but comes up short. Fight ends on the feet when the buzzer sounds.

Marcos Vinicius vs. Wagner Campos
Round 1: Campos is throwing with bad intentions. Vinicius misses with a right hand, while Campos throws back with hooks. The fighters clinch, and Campos earns a trip, taking the action to the mat. Campos works from his opponent’s guard but quickly moves to mount. Campos nearly hits an arm-triangle choke. Vinicius escapes and gets back to his feet. Final minute, and Campos gets the fight back to the ground but he eats an upkick.
Round 2: Vinicius misses with a spinning kick. Campos lands a big hook that sends Vinicius to the floor. Campos aggressively tries to finish, but Vinicius ties him up. Campos moves to side control and attempts a kimura. But he cannot pull off the submission.
Round 3: Campos begins the round throwing heavy punches. Vinicius scores with a front kick to the chin, but Campos eats it and moves forward. Vinicius lands a knee to the body and several punches to the head, Campos is in trouble. He covers up with his back against the cage. Vinicius pours it on with huge shots and Campos collapses to the floor.

Thiago Perpetuo vs. Leonardo Mafra
Round 1: Low kicks traded early. Mafra misses with some big hooks. He follows with low kicks to the lead leg. Mafra stays busy utilizing kicks that land to the body and legs. Big exchange, and Perpetuo pushes into the clinch. Nothing comes from the position and the fighters separate.
Round 2: Mafra tries for the clinch as Perpetuo moves forward, but can’t hold the position. Perpetuo lands a right over the top. Perpetuo ducks a punch and dives in for the takedown. Mafra traps an arm, but Perpetuo spins out of trouble. Mafra attempts another armbar, but once again it is negated, and Perpetuo lands some heavy punches and elbows from the top. Perpetuo is in half-guard, and traps Mafra’s right arm, resulting in some right hands. Perpetuo continues his assault from the top. To Mafra’s credit, he was able to regain full-guard in the final minute.
Round 3: Perpetuo opens with a Superman that comes up short. Mafra lands a combination, and some solid kicks. Perpetuo moves forward with strikes of his own, and lands a monster hook. Mafra hits the mat and is in big trouble. Big punches follow from the top. Perpetuo pounds away and the referee steps in to stop the carnage.

John “Macapa” Teixeira vs. Hugo “Wolverine” Viana
Round 1: Teixeira opens with a low kick. Viana lands a big right. Both fighters are swinging back and forth to start. Viana lands again with a big overhand right. Teixeira moves forward with a kick, but gets clipped by a straight shot from Viana. Teixeira bleeding over the right eye. Viana lands a switch kick to the body. Final minute and they both fire off bomb. They clinch, and Teixeira drives in a few knees from the cage.
Round 2: Teixeira scores with some punches and forces the clinch. Teixeira is landing, but, Viana is still pressing the action. Viana starts landing, but Teixeira is taking all the punches he offers. Final minute and Teixeira begins utilizing his kicks.
Round 3: Viana lands an overhand right to start. Teixeira lands an inside leg kick but it’s to the groin. Viana takes a quick break but continues on. Teixeira misses a front kick. Teixeira shoots for a takedown, but Viana shows excellent balance and stuffs the attempt. Fight ends on the feet, and both fighters raise their hands to signal victory.

Francisco “Massaranduba” Drinaldo vs. Delson “Pe de Chumbo” Heleno
Round 1: Drinaldo lands a big punch to the head of Heleno. Heleno looks rattled, but pushes back and forces the clinch. Drinaldo lands a knee to the body of a kneeling Heleno. Heleno stands and Drinaldo again drills him to the body with a knee. Heleno looking for a takedown, but it’s not happening. Drinaldo sprawls, Heleno rolls to his back, and Drinaldo starts drilling him with hammerfists. Herb Dean warns Heleno to fight back, but he’s just covering and absorbing the blows. Herb steps in and calls the bout.

Rodrigo Damm vs. Anistavio “Gasparzinho” Medeiros
Round 1: The fighters take the center of the octagon and immediately begin exchanging strikes. Damm lands a huge left hand that staggers Medeiros. Damm rushes in and connects with a big right that floors Medeiros. Damm immediately jumps to his back and begins looking for the rear-naked choke. He sinks his arm under the chin of Medeiros and forces the tap.
