UFC 144 Coverage | Rampage Jackson Explains Missed Weight (Video)
“I wasn’t going to say anything. I thought I was going to make weight. I got injured in my camp and it kind of hindered me from doing a lot running. I didn’t want to miss this fight, this fight was important to me and I fought so hard to get it so I said forget it I’m just going to man up and still make the fight.
I kept training in other ways but I just couldn’t get the road work in, then I healed up and starting get road work in but it was a little bit too late. I started cutting weight but I had a lot of weight to cut. I cut 21 pounds I just couldn’t get the last six. It’s kind of difficult you got to weigh-in earlier and I kind of underestimated the time. I woke up at three o’clock this morning to cut weight. I cut everything I had.
I’m not going to say [what the injury is] because I don’t want Ryan Bader to find out and go for it. I’m pretty much healed up right now.
I had to cut a lot of weight, I’m not comfortable with saying how much weight I had to cut but it’s the most weight I’ve ever had to cut in my life and when I got off the airplane I knew that I retained a lot of water and I really didn’t eat that much on the airplane, just a few snacks that I brought with me and I was even more surprised that I gained more weight on the airplane. I was like ‘Whoa, what is going on?’, it kind of surprised me. By now I can run so I was running on the treadmill and stuff and I was trying to get it off, I didn’t know I wasn’t going to make weight until a couple of hours ago.”

rampage is keepin it real. respect. everyone always hating on him saying hes not motivated. **** all that noise
Truth^
Let a man own up to his own affair’s. It’s sideline players, that always want to act like the know what is what, in another persons life. Nothing against Bader, but I hope Rampage shows why his name is Rampage tonight, so all the bandwagon jumpers will have to jump one more time.
“Yes, I believe I know what you are saying, you don’t have to keep asking”
ppl only watch the events and never understand what fighters go through behind the scenes. Rampage wouldnt have let that happen if he could prevent it. honest mistake by him.. shit happens.. he wouldnt want 20% of his purse to go to waste like that especially at one of his favorite places on earth in japan.
rich franklin be careful on words.. there is always a nice way to put things and a bad way to put things.. when will ppl learn how to use words the right way..smh
Rampage fan here. But concerned with the 21lbs, When your not use to losing that much is not good for a full fast 3 rounder. But once Bader feels that power he is going to shit himself. He hasnt fought anyone with that power before. Although he has a good shoot its not a top 5 best and Rampage has stopped some good shoots (Matt Hamill all night long). With a little extra weight, the power, and his take down defense I say Rampage can take if but he would be smart to put him away in the first half. I want another highlight reel KO Rampage!!
He gave it away in the beginning when he said he couldn’t run much. Bader better go for those leg kicks! lol
Damn, I don’t want another Forrest vs Rampage fight man! Don’t jinx him he’s ready to retire and I want Shogun vs Rampage at the end of the year.
chael, it doesn’t mean that he got leg problems.
rmpage is very stupid..first he says he cut 21 pounds but could npt cut the last 6.then he says he is not comfprtable telling how much weight he had to cut…think befor u talk rampage
