I would agree that Diaz is pretty intelligent. If you notice in his interviews, he makes the interviewer go at the pace he wants and he answers the part of the question that he wants to and ignores the rest. Also, he is extremely volatile and disrespectful to his opponents and to the media but then is able to make people believe it is the media’s fault and in so doing, absolves himself of any guilt. It’s a well-performed circus act. But the thing I think that makes him most intelligent is how he provokes an opponent and gets inside their head. He already did it successfully with George. GSP never should have let himself get provoked like that. I don’t like what he did taking away Carlos title shot. Anyways, what’s done is done and I think this has worked out to be the best possible scenario. These are the top two WW contenders and it’s going to be a great fight whether it lasts 1 rd. or 5.
He a very smart guy when it comes to fighting and training. But he’s not TRYING to get in people’s heads or misdirect them. That’s just his personality, and it’s what he brings out in people. Some people are just like that, and it’s not an act. Diaz has a misguided sense of honor and respect. And unless your in his inner circle, one can easily piss him off without intentionally trying. I know plenty of guys like him. Great guys, just some people walk on egg shells around them. As long as you don’t make him feel like a fool, or beneath you, or seem like your laughing AT him, he’s good with you. He’s an insecure guy. He’s still that insecure kid growing up, fighting because that’s how he dealt with his emotions. He even admits it. And he hasn’t really gotten over that. But that what makes him the fighter he is. I think some of his behaviors get to being disrespectful to others. But that other side of him is still that kid that just likes hanging with friends and training. But no one can’t take anything away from him as a fighter. I’ve said before, he’s the polar opposite of GSP, but they are the same person. Ying and Yang. That’s why I believe their fight would be epic.

Now, that he can’t undo that, he is trying to get back on top, by saying that he sees through Nick’s “fake craziness”. They are playing some mental chess with each other. They are both highly intelligent guys.
Diaz scared to fight GSP is just funny! I thought Diaz’s slogan was “Don’t be scared Homie!”. WOW…he must be telling himself this to make him feel better about what might be his next fight. Either Condit or Diaz, I think has a chance to dethrone and beat the canadian champ GSP. The real fight, in my opinion, is this weekend…can’t wait!
