UC NEWS – Miguel Torres Thinks He Has The Tools To Beat Cruz

“I think I pose the biggest threat to him as far as anybody at 135. … I don’t know who he’s fought with good leg kicks, that kick to the leg a lot, but I know a lot of the guys that I train with, that move like him, you hit them in the leg a couple of times, they don’t move as much in the later rounds. And when he gets that takedown, I don’t think he’s fought anybody that’s as dangerous off their back as I am. I think I pose a lot of threats for him on the ground. … I pose problems for him that he hasn’t seen yet.”
Dethroned bantamweight kingpin, Miguel Torres, talks to the guys over at sherdog.com about how he feels he matches up with the current champ, Dominick Cruz.
Since dropping to the bantamweight division Cruz has been unstoppable, he has rarely even lost a round let alone a fight. However, the man who many thought at one point to be the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world believes that his combination of leg kicks and ground work is enough to get the job done.
Even if it were true, it would appear as if the division has left Torres behind and if he was able to best Cruz in a title match just due to the stylistic matchup would he be able to survive his first attempt at defending the strap?
My guess is no.

lmao……Sorry….aint gonna happen!
Faber and its not even close. Finished him once and could have won the last fight
Faber just needed to let his hands go
Nah think Cruz would dance (run away!) Around bowles much like he did faber( there both just too Damn short), I think Torres has the reach and speed to actually catch Cruz
Torres is an ovverrated bum with a padded record not good enough to wipe my sweet ass.
Really? How do you go 39-4 with win streaks of 16 and 20, and hold a title for over two years all while being an overrated bum with a padded record? He may no longer be the best in his division, but the man is no bum
lol thats funny wheres the like button on one of these thingz
He needs to worry on his next few fights.
torres is da little gsp.1 time he gets knocked out n now just winning on points not even trying 2 finish da fight.cruz would rock torres.
rematch with bowles before even getting near cruz Bowles will ko his overrated ass

Torres is about two fights away from a title shot… In Bellator! The UFC needs to let this guy go. He may touch gold again but not in the UFC. Hell nah…
