Top Female Prospect Holly Holm Near UFC Deal
Holly Holm, a top female 135 lb. prospect, is apparently close to a deal with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. As previously reported, Holm was set to meet with Dana White after UFC 171. Lenny Fresquez , Holm’s manager, recently told MMAjunkie that they are in talks with the UFC, saying: “Offers went back and forth…We already had guidelines of what we were going to agree on and what we weren’t going to agree on. We’re still a little ways (apart) and there’s still a couple of items. We’re very excited about getting Holly into the UFC. It’s just my job to put Holly in the right hands.”
Holm, a former boxing champion, is quickly gaining attention in MMA. At 6-0 with 5 stoppages, many peg her to be a future threat to UFC champ Ronda Rousey. She currently fights for Legacy Fighting Championship, where she is challenging for the promotion’s inaugural Women’s Bantamweight belt in April. Fresquez claims that the main issue at this point is money, stressing “She’s got to make at least what she makes [in Legacy], and we’re close on that. The thing is making sure we get paid for Ronda. We’ve gotta get paid to fight Ronda.”
