Podcast: #7 BJPenn.com Radio| Tyson Nam, Pat Healy and Josh Thomson

Tonight, the boys are back in town for another exhilarating episode of BJPenn.com Radio fresh off the heels of an action packed UFC 152 from Toronto. As usual the show is jam-packed with exciting guests in the MMA community including bantamweight prospect Tyson Nam, #1 contender to the Strikeforce lightweight title Pat Healy and former Strikeforce lightweight champion Josh “The Punk” Thomson.

Nam went from being a relative unknown to one of the hottest prospects in the sport literally overnight following a first round knockout of Bellator champion Eduardo Dantas at an event in Brazil. MMA organizations all over the world are looking to get this kid signed to an exclusive deal but his current contract with Bellator is presenting legal issues for the young fighter. Believe it or not, Nam is and was signed to a Bellator contract before fighting their champion Dantas outside of the promotion but he has yet to be utilized by the organization and is looking to compete elsewhere.

Healy is just one week away from fighting Gilbert Melendez for the Strikeforce lightweight championship in Sacramento, California. Currently riding an impressive five-fight winning streak, Healy is considered to be a massive underdog against Melendez but it is a spot he is both familiar and comfortable with. Healy has trained recently with former UFC lightweight and welterweight champion B.J Penn as well as our third guest, Thomson.

Thomson came extremely close to becoming a two-time Strikeforce champion in his May trilogy bout with Melendez but unfortunately came out on the losing end of a close decision. Thomson returns to the Strikeforce cage on the same card as the Healy-Melendez bout against Caros Fodor. Having competed against both Melendez and Healy, I’m sure Thomson will also have an interesting perspective on the main event.

The show will begin promptly at 6:30pm eastern. If any of you have any questions for our hosts or our guests you can call 646-915-9927, email bryan@bjpenn.com or hit us up on Twitter @BJPennDotComRad
