Tonight on BJPenn.Com Radio: Karl Amoussou, Cub Swanson, Greg Jackson, John Dodson & Isaac Vallie-Flagg
Tune in live tonight at 8pm EST as hosts Mitch Ciccarelli & Bryan Levick will be joined by Greg Jackson and three of his top fighters, all of whom have huge fights coming up. We will also be speaking with current Bellator number one welterweight contender Karl Amoussou.
Jackson will kick things off and discuss upcoming bouts for John Dodson, Cub Swanson, Ike Vallie-Flagg, Cowboy Cerrone and Jon Jones. The man they call Yoda has long been considered one of the top coaches in the MMA.
Dodson will face Demetrious Johnson in the main event of UFC on Fox 6 for the UFC Flyweight Championship. Dodson defeated Jussier Formiga at UFC on FX 5 by knockout to earn the first crack at the title Mighty Mouse won at UFC 152. The bantamweight winner of season 14 of The Ultimate Fighter is 2-0 since dropping down to lightweight and has a career record of 14-5. Johnson defeated Joseph Benavidez via split decision back in September to become the first ever UFC flyweight title holder.
Swanson will face Dennis Siver at UFC on Fuel TV in London on February 16. While nothing has officially been announced the winner may earn a title shot at the winner of the Frankie Edgar-Jose Aldo featherweight title fight that will take place at UFC 156. Swanson has won three straight and has finished all three bouts via TKO/KO.
Speaking of UFC 156, Vallie-Flagg will make his UFC debut against veteran Yves Edwards. Flagg has a career record of 13-3-1 and was last season defeating Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante on the Strikeforce: Barnett vs. Cormier card back in May. In his lightweight debut, Vallie-Flagg looked impressive against the always tough Cavalcante and ran his unbeaten streak to 10.
27-year-old Karl Amoussou was born in Draguignan, France and holds a blackbelt in Judo. He will face Bellator Welterweight Champion Ben Askren next Thursday night in the main event of Bellator 86. Amoussou made the drop from middleweight to welterweight and entered the season six tournament. He earned the shot at Askren’s title by defeating Chris Lozano via 1st round submission, David Rickels by split decision and Bryan Baker via 1st round submission. Amoussou has a career record of 16-4-2 with 9 wins by submission and four by knockout.
