Tito Ortiz Confirms Date For Griffin Rubber Match & Final UFC Bout

We reported last month that the UFC was looking at sending Tito Ortiz off with a rubber match against Forrest Griffin as he had requested.
It now looks like that fight has been booked and they have scheduled it for UFC 148 in Las Vegas.
UFC 148 is expected to go down on July 7 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
The two former champs each hold a win a piece against each other and will look to prove once and for all who the better fighter is.
The two first fought at UFC 59 and Ortiz was able to best the rising Griffin at the time. However as the years past the two faced off in a rematch and in the second installment of this series it was Forrest Griffin who won the contest. Both fights where decided by close split-decisions.
Tito hasn’t had the best run in the UFC as of late. In fact the former champion is only 1-6-1 in his last eight contests. While he has definitely lost a lot more than he has won in recent years, his losses come at the hands of the divisions elite and all-former champions. He recently bounced back from a string of losses against Ryan Bader only to have that resurgence halted at the hands of Rashad Evans just a month later.
On the verge of retirement Ortiz asked to complete the trilogy with Griffin for his last professional contest.
Griffin, who is coming off a brutal loss to Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC Brazil took to idea and started campaigning for the trilogy match as well and that cry was answered with this now scheduled trilogy match.

Tito needs to retire. BJ needs to un-retire.
While I do want to see this fight, it shouldn’t be a rubber match. I felt the second fight was a lot closer than the first fight. I think Tito got the first decision because of who he is. He was still near the top and Griffin was just starting to rise up.
Not again. Just retire tito. Come on man.
