Rumble Misses Weight Again | Anthony Johnson vs. David Branch Now Set At 195 | MMA NEWS

By Jamie McAllister
Two former UFC fighters Anthony Johnson and David Branch are set to face off in the main event of Titan Fighting Championships 22. The card will air HDNet on Friday night.

However there was quite a stir prior to the weigh-ins on Thursday. Reports began to surface that Anthony Johnson had again missed the cut.

The fight billed originally as a Middleweight bout but according to Branch’s manager Ali Abdel-Aziz it was actually at a catch-weight of 195-lb

“Both of them made weight, they agreed to fight at 195lbs,” Ali Abdel-Aziz commented to MMAWeekly.

Johnson came in at (194.2 lbs) while Branch came in at (189.2 lbs)

Why doesn’t Rumble just fight in the LHW division? He’s huge and would have enough power for that division. I still scratch my head over how he was able to make weight at 170.

  2. Michael hamlin says:

He sucks so who cares about him!!

    • danielrchargers says:

its fucking ridiculous how this man can miss weight over and over again and still trick me and everyone else… he has talent and it wasting it. He doesn’t give a shit, but i had his back when all other fans did not. im still gonna support tho… well just have to see what happens in his NEXT fight if he misses weight again.

    • HBCsniper says:

Haah true! Some of the sloppiest striking I have ever seen!

  3. Zack says:

    Weighing in at 220?

  4. ThaGreenBandit says:

So far, Blackzillians aren’t looking too hot, and Rumble needs to get some discipline in his life. He is getting rediculous with these past couple of weigh-in fiascos

  5. JOSH Y says:

all you people jump to the conclusion that he missed weight. He has said for a while now that it was a catch weight.

    • Gould says:

fight was billed at 185 and all of a sudden becomes a catch weight when anthony cant make weight. he’s trying to get around the fact he was never gonna make weight in the first place and thats it.

      • Jerry says:

Umm….Branch weighed in at 189 and change…so he missed weight too? The contracted weight was 195

        • Gould says:

Branch knew before weigh ins rumble wasnt gonna make it.. lower tier organizations cant afford to just lose their head lining fight. branch either stopped his cut or decided to have some lunch before weigh ins you dumby. noone shows up 6lbs under the contracted weight limit for a fight anymore its unessecary strain on the body to cut that weight.

        • Fred Ogle says:

That’s gibberish for he missed the weight so the fight is at a catch-weight. His opponent was clearly there right at the 185 mark.

That said, Rumble has some issues. Juice and discipline.

          That is all.

        • Considering everything.... says:

I think it’s a fair argument to speculate that the original contracted weight was 185, but since Rumble again could not make it they contacted Branch’s people and agreed to a catch weight, so Branch stopped cutting. Otherwise I think Branch would weigh much closer to 195 too. Or are you saying he only cuts 4lbs for his fights and just didn’t bother this time? LOL That would be a weak argument in itself. “Considering everything….” ;o)

    • Derpedy Derp says:

Uh, he was on insidemma with his nutritionist talking about all the changes he’s made and now he will make 185 easily for this fight. Use your brain for once.

    • Semtex says:

He had 10 minutes on InsideMMA devoted to him, bragging he has changed his whole way of life, having Mike Dolce, cleaner diet, better training and all that good stuff. The piece ended with him saying “I am gonna MAKE 185, cause I have to. I want to be a professional, come back to the UFC and be a champion!”, then he and Mike gave each other “cheers” with a couple of protein shakes, laughing joyfully. This was this Monday! How was this fight gonna be a catchweight for a WHILE NOW???

    • jones says:

your an idiot know nothng shit talker haha

  6. Gould says:

Johnson Sucks and isnt dedicated to this sport. he wants the fame of being a fighter without putting in the work.. show up on weight or quit fighting ya fuckin bum

  7. Jesse says:

I think it’s a sign of weakness! He tries 2 fight at 170-185. Whatever. He just needs 2 go 2 205. But I think he’s scared at that weight class. Cuz there’s way buggers guys at lhw.

    • Somedude says:

Man Stfu. These guys can fight in whatever weight class they want, who are YOU to tell them otherwise? I guarantee you would never say that shit to his face.

Most UFC fighters cut weight to gain a size advantage over their opponents anyway. Your favorite fighter probably cuts 20lbs or more dickhead.

      • Hostile Hunter says:

At least are “favorite fighter” fucking makes his weight. Rumble is a joke… Stop giving him the spotlight with these meaningless articles. and Sum dude get your mouth off rumbles ball sack please. Pure bum.

        • Sam Eames says:

That would be “our”. I like Anthony Johnson. I really wish he would get his shit together though. Man MMA fans love to talk lots of shit.

      • Gould says:

its not us telling them what they can weigh its the rules you retard

      • Magic says:

they can fight at whatever weight class they can actually make weight for. if you can’t make 185 then you can’t fight at 185, it’s that simple

      • Balls McGee says:

I another faggot with this u won’t say it to his face shit

        • Douche Hunter says:

Well said Mcgee..Now we just need a translator for your dribble so we know wtf your saying..You said “I another faggot” and i guess you are. 😀

      • me says:

i think u should stfu! Rumble has the luxury of being able to choose what weight class he fights at but he cant ever make the weight. So if he cant make it then he should fight at a heavier weight class u knob polisher! If other guys can cut 20lbs then he should otherwise move up. Its as simple as that. If he wants to fight at 170 or 185 then make the weight and hit the targets with plenty of time before weigh ins. The guy is suppose to be a “professional” so maybe he should be able to do as the rest do.

    • jones says:

@jesse yeah obviously he is afraid of 205 guys..he was even afraid 185 he tryd to fight at 170 long as he could but missed weight many times and he was forced to move up to solve the problem…he is smart to be afraid of 205..look the size advantge he had at 170 and he was not even a champ…then at 205 he would have no advantage and all the same skills as 170..he was not even top 10 ww…the guy is a bum,,if he moved to 205 he would balloon up and weigh in at 210 like an idiot

  8. Jesse says:

Correction “bigger”. Dam u spell check.

  9. lex walker says:

Anthony is a fuck up he should either move up and quit being a pussy or retire

  10. OKWTEV says:

Fuck him. He is useless and will always feel entitled. If he dies right now the world will be better off. He is like so many section 8 cocaroaches. A waste of air and everything they touch.

  11. spades says:

Maybe he just doesn’t have a set of scales so he doesn’t really know until he weighs in.

More likely he just gave up trying.

  12. mmafan says:

wow!!!! still wonder why he wont fight LHW…..

  13. mmafan says:

WOW!!!! Wonder why he won’t fight LHW…..

  14. steeler says:

man i thought he’d be great at middle i mean if he could make weight at welter why not middle but i think he is the biggest waiste of talent ever

  15. Musa Muhammad says:

i think cutting weight to 170 messed up his system. I think Rumble cares. I don’t see him as being like “i dont care about this sport or anyone” and missing weight. He doesn’t come off like that in interviews and he trains hard. I honestly believe he damaged himself making those 170 pd weight cuts and now his body is like f.u. Or maybe he is just a lazy sh*t and his interviews are deceiving.

  16. Dick Diaz says:

this guy is a fucking pussy… fighting ppl so much smaller than him…

  17. shao says:

He drops to 170 and still gets his ass kicked what makes you think 205 will be easier

  18. Mike McMack says:

AJ needs to be more disciplined in his weight management, it’s part of being a professional. I hope he gets better about weight cutting because I’d like to see him back in the UFC once he does. He’s a very talented fighter with all the tools needed to make a run at the MW title. I have a hunch that Spidey is going to retire next year so MW will start to see more fighters moving up or down into that division once he does. I think AJ would be a legit contendor if he could get his weight in check or he should just fight at 205 but at that weight class he’d lose his size and strength advantage.

  19. Dean says:

Rumble could have gone really far with his career but his unprofessional weight cutting antics are going to destroy any hopes of getting back into the UFC or a major promotion

  20. Xaninho says:

He’s trying to fight in a weightclass he doesn’t belong. It’s too hard for him to cut the weight, so that means he has to move up. But then he loses his weightadvantage.

  21. Lol says:

He fucking sucks ass so he cuts major weight to beat up on smaller guys and cant even do that. Cut his big scary fat ass.

  22. KIDD433 says:

What a fucken bum.Glad UFC cut his punk ass.His striking looked good when he fought cans, then when finally started fighting high level stikers then he turned into a “FITCHER”and started to fight like a bitch. He missed weight on Vitor on purpose so he could have a size and strength advantage on him, knowing Vitor wouldn’t back out of the fight.Rumble is a piece of shit!Vitor stil fucken smashed him

  23. domp says:

fuck rumble give me his num ber and ill fuckin fight him right now dirty fighter

  24. Mwill says:

I am 6’5 and 330 lbs. I am making my debut at Flyweight next month. Everyone come watch me. This fighting thing is pretty easy and it comes naturally for me. What? Wait? Hold on a second, are you kidding me? You mean to say that I actually have to WEIGH IN at 125 lbs to be able to fight little guys. Fuck that shit, I’m outta here!!!
