Three MMA Fighters Make Yahoo’s ‘Most Searched Athletes Of 2013′

Well… color me surprised – it seems that people are still interested in Tito Ortiz.

A total of three MMA fighters made the list for Yahoo’s 10 most-searched athletes in 2013: Tito Ortiz, Ronda Rousey, and Gina Carano (yes, she’s apparently still an athlete).

Ronda (ranked 5th) was the highest-placed fighter to make the top 10, with Tito coming in at 7th place, and the fighter-turned-actor Gina Carano squeezing in at number 10.

Now, Ronda is a no-brainer – she’s the first female superstar of MMA, she’s the first woman title holder in the UFC, she’s graced dozens of magazine covers, and she’s an extremely polarizing individual. With Gina, I’m more confused as to her qualifications to make the list than as to why she’s searched for. But, Tito… well, he’s a bit of an enigma.

Yes, he’s going through his own drama, which might bump up the curiosity levels, resulting in more searches. And there’s always the ‘rasslin’ fans, searching for the latest scoop. But strangely enough, not only did Tito make the list, but no male UFC stars joined the Bellator fighter. No GSP; No Jon Jones; No Anderson Silva. Even with a few weeks of added drama to search for, GSP is seemingly less interesting than Tito Ortiz.

Hopefully this doesn’t give Tito a bigger head.

The full list is as follows:

1.Tim Tebow
2.Tiger Woods
3.Danica Patrick
4.Lindsey Vonn
5.Ronda Rousey
6.Lamar Odom
7.Tito Ortiz
8.Serena Williams
9.Maria Sharapova
10.Gina Carano
