This Week on BJPenn.Com Radio Michael Schiavello, Costa Philippou, Alessio Sakara, Mike Ricci & Lex McMahon
After last week’s ground breaking Wednesday night debut featuring Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson, his dad/head coach Ray, Ronda Rousey, Matt Hughes and the man himself, BJ Penn, the boys are back with another outstanding line-up.
Bryan Levick & Mitch Ciccarelli will welcome two UFC 154 middleweights and Alchemist Management teammates Alessio Sakara and Costa Philippou. Sakara will be making his first appearance in the Octagon since suffering a first round knockout loss to Brian Stann at the UFC on Fuel TV card that was held in Sweden back in April. Sakara was returning from a 13 month layoff due to a knee injury and now faces Patrick Cote in a battle of hard hitting middleweights.
Philippou has been on one hell of a roll and is looking to extend his winning streak to five against Canadian Nick Ring. The two will meet on the main card in a battle of rising middleweights. The Serra-Longo trained Philippou has beaten Riki Fukuda, Court McGee, Jared Hamman and Jorge Rivera in his last four bouts and has an overall record of 11-2 with one no contest.
Two more members of the Alchemist Family will join the show as The Ultimate Fighter season 16 contestant Mike Ricci and President Lex McMahon will talk about Ricci’s career and his training alongside UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre and welterweight contender Rory MacDonald. Ricci has a career record of 7-2 and just defeated Team Nelson’s number one pick Dom Waters via decision on last week’s episode. McMahon is a busy man and just returned from China where he watched Alchemist Management client Thiago Silva defeat Stanislav Nedkov via third round arm-triangle choke which earned him the Submission of the Night award.
Michael Schiavello aka “The Voice” will discuss his long and storied career as a combat sports commentator. Schiavello will be very busy throughout the rest of the year calling shows for RFA, Legacy Fighting Championships, XFC and Score Fighting Series.
