Thiago Alves Mistaken for Thiago Silva in Arrest Story

While it was Thiago Silva who was recently arrested, a different Thiago may catch some flack for the crime, thanks to a case of mistaken identity.

Fox News Latino erroneously posted a picture of UFC Welterweight Thiago Alves in a story about Silva’s arrest. The article has since been corrected, but some minor damage could already have been done to the reputation of Alves. Alvez did not have much to say on the matter, simply tweeting “it’s not me people” in response to the article.

Alves (19-9, 11-6 UFC), looks to finally make his return to the Octagon at UFC on Fox 11, where he’s matched up against Seth Baczynski. The “Pitbull” has been sidelined since 2012 due to various injuries. While he has been linked to multiple fights since then, including match-ups with Yoshihiro Akiyama, Siyar Bahadurzada, and Matt Brown, he has not fought since a bout with Martian Kampmann at UFC event in 2012, a fight in which he appeared to be winning handily until succumbing to a third round guillotine choke.
