The Voice | Overeem Hasn't Technically Cheated, Don't Crucify Him

By Lorenzo Luciano:
If you are an MMA fan, you are well aware of the news concerning Alistair Overeem and the accusation of a 14 to 1 testosterone level drug test result.

On “Inside MMA”, “The Voice” Michael Schiavello, let his opinion be known on the events that have transpired since the announcement of Overeem’s drug results during the past week.

Schiavello feels that perhaps Overeem has been judged too quickly and harshly, this is what he had to say on the matter;

“You know, while we’re talking about the subject, Kenny, I just wanna chime in here on a couple things that have been playing on my mind, the last week or so, since the news of Alistair (Overeem) broke. Alistair doesn’t have a license with the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC), so how are they testing him in the first place when he doesn’t have a license with them? By what jurisdiction are they testing him? And ‘B,’ everyone seems to be hanging Alistair out to dry. They’ve been nailing him to the cross and crucifying him, but it’s still two months away from his fight. You know, he hasn’t technically cheated. Because, unless he pisses hot on the fight night, how could he possibly have cheated? There’s still an opportunity he can get from the 14:1 down to the allowed 6:1 level by fight time. But we’re calling him out as a cheat, two months out from a fight?”

Since the announcement of the drug results, the UFC has filed an application in Nevada on behalf of the “Demolition Man” for the fighter to obtain his fighter’s license. Which begs the question, the drug results don’t look good, but is there something we aren’t aware of yet?

What do you think about Schiavello’s comments? What about the UFC filing for a license on behalf of Overeem?

  1. Xaninho says:

That is what I’ve been saying in another part on here about Overeem. He isn’t licensed so technically he didn’t break any NSAC rules.

    • Ninja Oreo Dollop says:

Dude, admit it. He cheated and pissed a steaming pool of steroids. He is as much a cheater as Chael Sonnen.

      • GRT 3000 says:

that’s not wine he’s drinking that’s a cup o’ roids. lol. yeah he is cheating his ass off, but technically if he comes up clean on fight night it’s…not all good, but better. Unlike Chael that came in with an army of one (16:1) on fight night and still lost. now that’s just funny.

        • Ninja Oreo Dollop says:

14:1 is only 2 less men compared to 16:1. Haha

          Chael’s sole testicle > Overeem’s two testicles

But are these frail men?… Strong men? What kind of men are we talk about here!? LOL

      • Xaninho says:

I wasn’t saying he didn’t cheat. You know I accepted he must have cheated.

But he didn’t break any rules because he wasn’t licensed yet.

    • Aaron says:

You’re forgetting the fact that Alistair had a conditional license to fight Brock and he would be subjected to two random post fight drug tests within six months after his fight. Well, that was indeed THE drug test HE obliged to. So, people ask why he was tested. That’s fucking why.

      • Xaninho says:

They should do that more often. It will make it harder for the cheaters to calculate their cycles and because of that they have two choices, quit cheating or be caught.

    • jc says:

thats bullshit. so you are allowed to cycle between fights just not at the time of fights, get your head out of your ass Lorenzo. he is being tested as part of his conditional license for the brock fight

    • he is right!! it´s what it is… and he will be facing JDS… and i´m cool with that…

    • JAC says:

This testing is part of the terms he had to agree to in order to get his conditional license to fight Lesnar.

  2. Ste says:

    Go Reeeeeeem!!!

Do a surprise test on every single UFC fighter at once and I bet there will be a large amount that will fail especially over 2 months from a fight..

What were the levels of the other fighters tested?

1:1 is normal level what were the other guys levels?

    • T.Daddy says:

They did do a suprise one dickhead.. the other 5 hw’s passed… He is a beast but he is a cheatin

      • Ste says:

No Dickface I meant do a surprise test on Every fighter and see how many use and get away with it!!! Not just the HW’s for this fight…

        Normal levels are 1:1

One of the other fighters only just passed the test which means he has higher levels than normal and probably on the 6:1 limit.

        • The King says:

        • Joe Bidden says:

1:1 is for ideal circumstances. I can assure you that you do not have a 1:1 level right now. It would be off slightly. Athletes, whom often have naturally higher ratios, will test higher than 1:1. You take a man that’s training every day, working out, and constantly active, and he’ll test higher than a 1:1. The 6:1 IS high, but not everyone over 1:1 is roiding, numbnut.

You don’t get a 6:1 level on roids. You get a 14:1. Hence why Reem is roiding. If you piss a 6:1 will shooting up, you’re shooting some weak ass shit.

  3. Faaris Sheikh says:

This one of the most igonortant responce to TRT,

First off all TRT increases the speed of any Injuries, Straight off the back this is cheating, It also makes you more stronger, So whilst training Overeem will have an advantage whilst on TRT. This means even if he does drop down to a 6:1 ratio he still has an edge as he will feel physically stronger and his injuries would of healed up….

  4. jbeamazing says:

The Voice is a joke you lames on here diss pro wrestling but probably co sign this lame he is just as fake and lame as overoids juiced out fake body

  5. Ninja Oreo Dollop says:

    Schiavello’s comments are idiotic.

Yes, normal testosterone levels on fight night are important but its also about a preparation for a fight. How do we know his Testosterone levels weren’t 20-1 earlier that week? Is that really okay? He is a steroid abuser and I doubt he was taking TRT because it wasn’t public knowledge that he did so. He is Mr. All Natural according to his fans.

The UFC applying for his license on behalf is a way for them to save this fight and look the other way at the expense of JDS. If the fight happens it shouldn’t be for the title and I hope JDS demolishes this jerk.

  6. koolG says:

so your saying abuse peds up to a point when you will piss clean then its not cheating? get the fuck out of here you do them at all your a fuckin cheat.

  7. DMAC says:

Agree! He’s not doing anything different from the “trt” guys so… I repeat, claim you’ve been using trt, get a dr to sign off and everyone will love you again.

  8. k says:

I hope this guy never fights again.

  10. Ste says:

People seem to forget the other fighters that use and still fight in the UFC… Hendo, Sonnen, Rampage etc………..

  11. Tsimanga says:

Michael Schiavello…lol. Just listening to that guy hurts. He’s clueless on whatever comes out of his mouth. He’s a fountain of misinformation.

  12. i think what they should do for a thing like this is regularly test the guy before fight day to make sure his TRT levels have dropped until he’s below 6:1. but only in cases like this where the testing was done 2 months before the fight whilst he has no tlicense. this much before a fight a fighter has not even started his real trianing camp for the fight yet. More or less the fighter is just working out and learning and since overeem is not licensed under NSAC what his levels are until his actual fight camp should not matter so much. Once he is under NSAC however he should not be allowed to ever test above 6:1 in any circumstance. But since the fight isn’t until the 26th give him time to get his levels down and regularly test him before the fight to make sure he doesn’t start using again before the fight. I mean…nobody is quite ready to fight dos santos except for Mir right now. And Mir needs 1 more fight to make sure he’s ready cuz honestly he is giong ot get knocked the fuck out if he can’t get dos santos on the ground.

  13. david says:

whether or not hes on steroids the night of the fight doesnt matter, if hes using them between fights to build his body unnatturaly its still cheating, so fuck schiavello and his rationalizing ass. you dont take roids and immediately become stronger you take them over a period of time and they enhance your physique beyond your natural capabilities fucking idiot

  14. deez nuts says:

too many pussies on this website… anyways roid or no roids i wanna see the fight go down

  15. lol says:

So it’s okay to use steroids during training, as long as your piss is clean come fight night? My bad, it’s okay to pump yourself full of testosterone, just as long as it comes down by fight time? How about you just train.

  16. Chris says:

Well, Mike. As a condition of being granted a license for the Lesnar fight, he agreed to random testing up to six months after the fight. So, yes, he did cheat. I would expect an MMA expert to know this simple fact.

  17. Nick says:

    Actually he’s right.

  18. IknowMMA says:

This guy is a fan and is talking as a fan! Matter of fact is that using preformace enhancers IS CHEATING!! There is no other way to put it! No one is crucifying him! Everyone I just being realistic! TRT the way he has is unfair for other fighters! It’s CHEATING and there’s no other way to put it… What a coward move

  19. I think his odds of getting licensed are pretty good. Otherwise, Dana White would move to replace him asap to give the fighters ample time to conduct a proper camp. Quite likely Dana has spoke with the NSAC and gotten some reassurance or other information. Otherwise, he would move to replace him now.

  20. Xaninho says:

I talked to one of the giant body builders at my gym today. He said creatine elevates the testosterone levels substantially too. It’s used to recover quicker.

  21. Overeem’s credibility as a clean fighter is gone now cause every time he wins people will be wondering if he cheated

  22. Stewbot says:

The UFC filing for a license on Overeem’s behalf makes it seem that the UFC still wants this fight to happen despite the Reems astronomical Testosterone level. I think this sends a poor message to the public and especially younger fans. There’s no reason for anyone’s Test level to be that HIGH! This guy is obviously heavily using a form of PED’s. Even if it’s 2 months out from a fight it’s still cheating. You’re able to train harder and recover quicker. I used to be a huge Reem fan and would always defend him when others would throw out steroid allegations. I’m very dissapointed by all of this. It was supposed to be one of the biggest and best fights in UFC history. There’s no way he should be allowed to fight at UFC 146 now. No way. He dug his own grave and made himself and his fans look very foolish in doing so.

  23. Wickdaddy says:

The reason it matters is because he was subject to two random tests after the lesnar fight as a stipulation of his conditional license to fight lesnar.

  24. Matt says:

Wasnt a condition of his conditional licence against Brock that he has to pass two random drug tests within 6 months after the fight? So whether or not he was technically in the wrong for the JDS fight he didn’t adhere to the conditions of the nsac.. So itl be very unlikely that they will issue him a licence???

  25. jesse says:

ive posted this before, yes this is the first of its type of testing , so now the mma world knows that overeem does use steroids no bug surprise and that he also times is cycles to end close to fight month. not that I’ve ever taken roids but asking as he’s off before and after fight he does not have that aid of roids. as a matter of fact mentally he need to be strong for the reason that he at a different level of strength.

  26. Not You says:

I’ve got a few points to raise about this topic. To those who claim steroid use and trt are not the same thing, hint they are, are wrong. Trt is the therapeutic use of synthetic testosterone to help fill the gap, and in some cases, restart the bodies natural production of testosterone. Also, NSAC aren’t the ones responsible for testing guys using trt, that all lands on ye doctor who signed the prescription. Trt can be administered various different ways but the whole reason for a guy to be on trt is that his hormone levels are low and they need to be brought back to homeostasis. In order to do this, the prescribing doctor tests the patient and 4 – 6 weeks to see where his hormone levels are and adjust treatment accordingly. In Chael’s case, nor he or his doctor had to say anything until his post fight test because the UFC and NSAC had no right to ask based on doctor patient confidentiality.

Another thing, Overeem was tested out of contract which means, literally, that he broke no NSAC rules. The only way the UFC roster could be tested periodically is if they allow WADA to conduct the tests, but that won’t happen because under the more stringent guidelines enforced by the WADA you would see a while slew of fighters being banned, both for substances and elevated T:E ratios (WADA allows up to 4:1, NSAC allows upto 6:1). In my opinion if you want to watch “natural” fighters then the ruling should be changed to a maximum 2:1 ratio. No matter how highly trained an athlete is a real, natural high T:E ratio would be between 1.3-1.2:1, because hormones don’t work the way everyone seems to think.

And my last points, Alistair tested for a high T:E ratio and that’s it. As far as I am aware the NSAC hasn’t come out and stated exactly what type of PED he IS using. Why everyone immediately latched onto the steroids cause I will never understand. Mo and Cyborg were both fined, suspended and the substance they abused was released by ye NSAC after they tested positive. And even if he is using steroids, it’s not the juice that is in the gym twice a day drilling different combos and positions, it’s Alistair. It’s not the steroids that have to walk out on fight night and be under pressure to preform exactly what he worked on. The steroids would give him the ability to maintain muscle mass, work harder and heal faster and that’s it. The best part is that he wouldn’t even be that much stronger come fight night because after coming off and bringing his test level back down that’s about as natural as an athlete gets. The next time you watch a prime time and see your favorite fighter going through grueling training sessions day in and day out you should really think what they are doing to keep up that daily work rate for an 8 week training camp.

Seeing as I won’t get a real response from this, I will get this out of the way for all of you. I’M JUST A DELUSIONAL OVEROID NUTHUGGER THAT DOESN’T WANT TO ADMIT THE TRUTH AN I DON’T KNOW WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT ANYWAY.

  27. GET RID OF TRT says:

  28. spyro says:

Xan, creatine doesn’t “substantially increase testosterone levels” or it would likely get pulled off the shelves. The giant body builder at your gym is talking out his ass and probably just trying to divert attention off the roids he abuses / thinks u think he abuses.

  29. jdog says:

He didn’t piss dirty for the Brock fight before, or after, with the fight so far out it is very safe to say he isn’t even in a training camp preparing for JDS, not saying he isn’t training, just not full blown in a training camp for the fight. Also if he was sick or injured they could have gave him something to help it heal which could be a cause, or maybe he is in fact on TRT and his levels were out of wack, maybe legitimately, maybe on purpose, but he is MUCH different than Chael as regardless if he IS or ISN”T juicing, he did NOT fight JDS THEN piss dirty

  30. Stevie D says:

He clearly is a cheat…he went from a lanky whippet into a monster….that kind of bulk does not appear with not PED help. Personally, I won’t want to see any sort of PED’s in MMA. This guy should be booted out and made an example of.
This is fighting….it’s completely unethical and immoral to use PED’s….you could seriously injure someone if you’re pumped up on PED’s.

  31. Declan says:

So what if their all on steroids its not our bodies their fucking up, it’s their choice no.1,no.2 steroids dont teach u how to punch, kick, submit, move and all that. People are delighted Overeem tested positive because hes European and not a Yank or fucking shitty little cardboard city fucking Brazillian, K1 champ! he’s the best heavyweight striker in the world juice or no juice.

  32. Declan says:

oh and i suppose Brock Lesner never took steroids,he’s all natural, bullshit! He fucked up his insides from roids, but that was his choice, now he’s back where he belongs with the pretend fighters because he didn’t like getting hit boo hoo. Hes a great wrestler i wouldn’t take that away from the man he should stick to coaching.

  33. Brad says:

I personally don’t care as long as he’s clean on fight night. I just wanna see the fight.

  34. maurice says:

i dont want a guy gettin more out of training camp, because he’s a fucking raging hulk during training. the voice is a dumbass for these comments. wtf does he think “random” drug testing is for?? fucking retard man.

  35. Ronin says:

If any of your really believe that ANY of your favorite athletes have NEVER used steroids or TRT, you are kidding yourselves and being completely naive. Every sports player has used it one time or another. Everybody cries about “gaining” advantage. Every one of you would give your left nut to be where these guys are. Injuries are a real part of any sport, and what? Are there just supposed to quit their career just cuz you freakin’ fans are callingit unfair? Screw you, They should do what ever keeps them on top. When it boils down to it, its about their needs, not ours. The next time you feeling like lashing out, step into the octagon yourselves, tear a knee or a shoulder or elbow, and tell us how quickly you want to recover when your salaries are at stake? Stop being pussies people, we know they do it. Put yourselves intheir positions first before becoming online bad assses!

    • Charles U. Farley says:

Ronin you are an ignorant tool. The comments made by “the voice” are absolutely ridiculous! and Bas Rutten was right and correct to instantly shut him down. It’s an insult to all the fighters in ANY sport who fight clean.

And I HAVE fought. I HAVE trained and sparred with professional MMA, Muay Thai, and Jui Jitsu players. If had found the sport just a little bit earlier in life I would have gone pro… So I DO have some right to tell you to take a flying leap!
Anytime I hear some douche whining that “everyone does it” so we can’t judge, or why fight it… or what ever other BS flows from their tiny brain, it only sounds to me like this is one more ass on drugs trying to rationalize and justify cheating and cutting corners.
Look up Baxter “the One Arm Bandit” Humby. WORLD CHAMPION Muay Thai fighter with ONE ARM. never has nor will ever use any form of PED. and yet, somehow he manages to kick the crap out of guys.
Stop lying to yourself. You do NOT need drugs to succeed in the fight game.

  36. says:

How would you go to Beijing, by air or by train? I really enjoyed myself.IS it true or false? This one cannot compare with that one.I’m very glad to hear that.It really depends on who is in chargeIt really depends on who is in chargeI am busy. You can make it!I will seek from my doctor’s advice.
