The 'H-Bomb' More Of A Concern For Jones Than Henderson's Wrestling | UFC News

By Jamie McAllister
UFC Light-Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones in an interview with MMAMania.

In his next bout Jones will defend his Light-Heavyweight Title against former Strikeforce and Pride FC champion Dan Henderson. The bout is set to take place on Sept. 1, 2012, at UFC 151 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Henderson started out as a Greco-Roman wrestler and went on to represent the US at the Olympics. However Jones is more worried by Henderson’s deadly right hand the ‘H-Bomb’.

“I think more his striking than his wrestling. With each bout, he has been using his striking more. He throws those “H-Bombs” and they are like heat-seeking missiles. Dan is a great wrestler, as well, and has been wrestling along time. I wrestled last about 5 years ago in college and I don’t enjoy wrestling as much as I used to. Dan is older and has been doing it more, but it seems like as he has gotten older, he has focused more on his striking. So, I think his striking is more of a concern than his wrestling.”

  1. jones says:

yeah i would think the h bomb would be more of a fear then his wrestling ,,,same as the h bomb was more a problem for ***** jaje shields for his wrestlings,,,dans wrestilng is gine with his trt shots

  2. Xaninho says:

Jones has nothing to worry about. If Jake Shields can control Hendo, Jones could neutralize him as easy as anyone else. Jones can keep the same regimine he’s been on and shouldn’t have to change anything in camp in preparation for Henderson. Hopefully, after this fight Dana will give the fans what they want and have Silva move up so Bones can put him away. Bones has cleared his division, he’s ready to move up, so Dana can either let him move up to Heavyweight or sign the superfight so that Silva can finally taste defeat in the octagon. I believe that Silva is no match for Jones and would be ragdolled until he’s out from the elbows or a vicious choke just like his buddy “Pee Pee Cup” Machida.

    • Yo Daddy says:

      I agree 100%

      • Xaninho says:

Silva’s time as P4P king is numbered. You have to face the inevitable that he’s either going to lose to a Middleweight down the line and drop the title, or he could lose to Jones. I believe it’s much less embarrassing to lose to Bones than a Middleweight as Jones is already #2 on the P4P list, and if Silva was to lose to a Middleweight the marketability of a superfight with Jones would be greatly diminished and most people would lose interest. So, if Dana is smart he’ll put Silva up against Jones before he drops the title.

        • fist says:

yeah ryt hendo is just a prey for jones..i dont think that spider will fight jones

        • Xaninho says:

Of course he won’t. Andy is scared of Jones and Dana is scared of what Bones would do to Silva. However, you have to face it that he has to lose sometime and I believe it would be better for him to lose to Jones than to a Middleweight. If he loses to a Middleweight, there would be significantly less interest in seeing him fight Jones. So Dana and Andy should both smarten up. He can either pass the torch to Bones and break records, or he could lose to a Middleweight and be left with nothing.

        • B-rad says:

Yeah dont get yoru hopes up on seeing that fight.. Bones has shown interest in training with silva so i dont think Jon would want to mess up that chance by challenging him…It could happen but just dont expect it lol

        • Shawn says:

          Bones also trained with Evans.
          See how that went.
The training doesn’t factor into it. A “super fight” is necessary in order for Silva to leave with glory. Otherwise you get something similar to Chuck Liddell or Tito Ortiz’s departure. Hard to watch, painful losses against guys they could have beaten years earlier.

        • smitty says:

i agree with what you said but gsp is clearly the #2 p4p fighter in the world he has destroyed everyone they have put in fornt of him and hasnt had a bad fight since his match against serra
personally i think welterweight is a harder division that middleweight or the lightheavyweight division right now with a bunch of new contenders coming all of the time
he might even be number one p4p in the world because anderson had preformances against maia leites cote and sonnen the first tme and gsp has faced tougher competiton than silva
also gsp already has more ufc wins than silva and will probably beat the record for wins

    • Treg says:

Alot of people dismiss hendo for his fight against shields but he wasn’t very young in that fight an cuttin weight at his age is no good but at his more natural weight I think he won’t gas as much an be more succesful grappling, jones control is pretty impressive but jones should worry about hendos wrestling because if hendo takes him down he might land some killer GNP

      • Treg says:

Also I believe silva has a good shot to beat jones, if he avoids the grappling and gets in on jones striking which has many holes he can definitely land and hurt jones, I’d say it’s 50/50 can’t believe so many people discredit silva

    • Chris says:

great joke man pee pee cup machida im laughing so hard did you come up with all on your own?

    • jshockley says:

What you guys fail to realize is that Hendo had an injured back during the Jake Shields fight.

  3. Xaninho says:

Fucking Chart! I KNOW it’s you who’s using my name. I did not post any of these whack posts above.

    Butthurt much? fucking fag!

    • WrestlingRules says:

Dude don;t worry WE ALL knew it wasn’t you. It was way too intelligent about your hero Anderson “NOPE” Silva……hahahahahhahahaha,,

  4. Xaninho says:

BJ get your team to fix this login issue.

  5. Xaninho says:

I wish UFC would ban all strikes. Isn’t it more fun to just lay on top of eachother and grind and grind and grind. Oh I love the feel of spandex on my body. North-South position is one of my favourite positions.

Oops! I think I just jizzed in my leotard!

    • Xaninho says:

^ That wasn’t me. That’s the gay side. I’m just the side that knows it’s best for Silva to fight Jones while they can still draw big money, before Andy loses to somebody else.

  6. Xaninho says:

ok this is fucked up! Why can anyone use my name and when I want to use another name it gets posted under my own?

This just isn’t my day is it?

    • WrestlingRules says:

This is SOME Funny shit…My doppleganger is usually very homoerotic, but lately it’s been quite intelligent….but hasn’t got my humor down yet…..hehehehehehehe. I believe that it isn’t anybody at all but the “ghost in the machine” or gremlins or a poltergeist….

Hey you know what just popped into my brain??? I think I know why Silva has been winning even when he was losing!! He made a Fuckin’ Deal with the Devil!!! That completely explains Seagal too… Doesn;t Seagal look like Satan??? Yep the Anti-Christ is the MW champion…

  7. Lauridawg says:

Jones has never thought anyone who is as quick and accurate and silva. he is also a very intelligent fighter and has more experience,it would be silvas toughest challenge yet but hed put jones away via tko

  8. Xaninho says:

My evil twin overthere^ is wrong.

Skill advantage undeniably goes to Silva

    Size advantage goes to Jones.

Age advantage obviously goes to Jones (they’re just two different generations of fighters)

If it’s so important for the ‘fans’ let Jones drop to 185 then. If he doesn’t it means he’s scared of Silva.

    • Xaninho says:

Jones and Silva cut from around the same weight.

So, a cut to 205 rather than 185 may be better for Silva.

Jones would cut to 185 to fight Andy if Silva wasn’t scared and Dana wasn’t protecting him.

      • Xaninho says:

DW is only protecting Jones. For DW Jones is the future, he knows eventhough Silva is still going strong, he’s close to retirement. Jones is the one sponsored by the UFC.

So you see you have things backwards.

        • Xaninho says:

Dana is protecting the interests of Silva because as long as Silva says “nope” it doesn’t have to happen.

When Jones insisted on moving up to Heavyweight he was instantly shot down.

And when talk began of the superfight among all the fans, Silva shot it down.

However, Jones said he would fight him and train properly to do so, but would rather have him as a mentor.

Jones never outright shot the fight down like Silva has.

The only contenders for Jones after Hendo is Gustafsson, and now Glover with some hype behind him.

The Middleweight division, on the other hand is purging with new stars and possible contenders in Bisbing, Boetsch, Munoz, Weidman, and now Lombard to name a few.

I decided against including Stann as he has seemed to be one dimensional, but maybe training with Sonnen has served him well.

So, you see Dana is protecting Silva and honoring his little wishes, while Jones can’t do things he feels would accommodate the fans, such as moving up to Heavyweight.

        • Xaninho says:

Silva didn’t shoot the fight down liar. He didn’t want to move up in weight to fight him. That’s not the same thing.

DW is protecting his future investments in Jones. The UFC is sponsoring him for a reason.

You can use my name, but you’re still wrong.

        • Xaninho says:

Alright, so while Anderson wasn’t open to the fight Jones was.

I’m willing to bet that if Jones was to get injured Silva would move up to get another easy fight at 205.

He’s just trying to avoid the inevitable, just like Dana.

Dana protects Silva from fights and when he gets loose with the rules in the octagon, Dana protects him then to.

Silva knows that you can only back up so far until you hit the cage, he can’t run from Jones.

Jones would trip Silva and rain down with the elbows, if Silva got up he’d get a free trip to Lala Land. I’m sure Machida has told him all about it.

Silva, there’s less shame in losing to Jones than dropping that title. Keep that in mind Burger King, because you won’t be P4P king for long.

        • Xaninho says:

Yeah it’s easy to be a HW fighting at 205 and being open to fight a guy from the 185 division.

This whole Silva-Jones fight discussion is pointless. Different weightclasses, different generations. Yes Silva did move up to fight Forrest Griffin, but that was 3 years ago. When a fighter is past his 30’s the age is rapidly changing things.

Silva is still a great fighter, but not as great as 10 years or even 3 years ago anymore. Growing older is a bitch.

A superfight wouldn’t be a fair fight at this point in Silva’s career. If he was 10 years younger and fighting 20 lbs heavier it wouldn’t have been such a problem.

        • Xaninho says:

Did nuthugger Xaninho get out again?!

          Damn, I’m sorry guys.

We all thought we had him under control… He hears the truth about Silva and he must run to the rescue.

It’s a serious problem, but we want Silva’s demise to be as painless as possible.

I wish he could understand that Silva losing to Bones would be less humiliating than losing to a Middleweight.

And that if Silva doesn’t take the fight with Jones before he loses at Middleweight he’ll be missing out on a huge payday that would go towards some nice soaps for him to clean Andy’s nuts with so that he could hug them nice and close.

        • WrestlingRules says:

Bravo Bravo Bravo…That was awesome. I wish my other personalities would be as smart as yours!!! That was some awesome back and forth. I hope these other nerds on here can appreciate the chess game here……..You know I have a thought, Hey the other-Xanindo would you be the other WrestlingRules and lets have a bout. I need you to be smart though. One of my other ones is kind of homoerotic I just call him/her a coward and I don’t want to do that to you…cool…..The only problem I see here though is I pretty much agree with everything you just wrote. I know, surely you HATE wrestling…….Maybe we can have chess match on that? Or do you have any other suggestions……Sorry real Xanindo, I am trying to steal your sane half……Boom…..Hey Dude, I got it, start your first move with the word. Boom, then I will know its you….Ah Shit now I’ll have 10 fake me’s starting with Boom now!! Crap, I don;t know you’re smarter than me figure it out….

        • Xaninho says:

          BOOM

I’m the intelligent Xaninho. I decided to have some liberty with the name this morning, but the homo Xaninho joined in soon after. I began to post as Xaninho in hopes of helping him with his constant nuthuggery of Silva, but have made no progress thus far. I am merely hoping to enlighten him from his strange obsession. Also, I believe that wrestling is a superior form of combat. You could even ask upon Andy this past Saturday on how he feels about wrestling, he resorted to desperate measures to counter Sonnen’s wrestling. So, I believe that proves that Jones could use his wrestling to put Silva away with ease, and that would be the least painful road for Andy. He should just lose to Jones while he can still break records from it, rather than waiting until he tastes defeat in his division. I’m just hoping that Xaninho could understand this, Silva is trying to delay the inevitable.

In closing, I appreciate the compliments of my intelligence and I am glad to bring some hope to these comments. I would be delighted to argue or agree with anyone, so all are welcome to express their opinions to my beliefs.

          – The Best Damn Xaninho You Have Ever Seen

        • Xaninho says:

Daddy did it again? Does this name stealing really make you feel better?

If it does it should be used by therapists to solve problems like you seem to have.

Go ahead post some more nonsense.

        • Xaninho says:

Oh Xaninho, it seems like you have my intentions all wrong. I am quite fine, great actually. I’m trying to make you better. I’m trying to enlighten you and pull your face from Silva’s nuts. Your nuthuggery has become repulsive recently, far worse than ever before. I lost my patience, I knew I had to intervene. As all of us here may know, fight fans are scarce in our society and the few of us that exist should at least have intelligible thoughts. That’s why I’ve arrived Xaninho, not to mock you or embarrass you, but rather to save you before it’s too late. I’d hate to see an MMA enthusiast fall into an irreversible comatose state. I’d like for us all to be smart and savvy of the sport, not brain-dead nuthuggers. I want the best for all my fellow fight fans and all fighters, including Silva. You and him both need to come to the realization that his days of superiority in the UFC are numbered. He should face Bones before it’s too late so he can still break records with the fight, because if he were to lose before he could fight Jones it wouldn’t be such an amazing match up any longer. Would it be better if he lost to the #2/3 man on the P4P list or a Middleweight who may not even rank on the P4P list? Please read what I’m sharing with you with an open mind. It’s only to help you. I don’t want to be here, you should know all of this on your own… but until that day I’ll be here to help you in your journey.

          – The Cool Xaninho (The Best Damn Xaninho You Have Ever Seen)

        • Xaninho says:

I don’t read those essays full of crap.

You’re pathetic. It’s clear you’re jealous of my correct assessments, completed with real facts.

You seem to think you have some sort of intelligence? Think again! Oh no I should say guess again! Thinking is too hard for you. You’re mentally challenged, not enough to call you a retard, but very close.

There’s nothing you can say about this subject that makes sense. At least not from your delusional point of view. Come to our side, the people that have some sense and intelligence.

No if you really want to sound intelligent..just repeat after me. it’s ok I don’t mind if you copy my opinions so you can pretend to have some intelligence. You’re already using my name to look better than you ever did.

You my feebleminded friend are irrelevant that’s why you need to use my name. Take a good look in the mirror, you’ll see a loser….Now go ahead post some more!

I’m enjoying myself, verbally bitchslapping dumbasses like you is fun.

        • Xaninho says:

Xaninho, I don’t understand why you’re taking offense to my guidance. I see that I’ve already made a difference in you as you now show some passion and have even improved your writing, not the usual brain-dead propaganda you spat.

And for the record, when I look in the mirror I see a man, a leader. Such a leader that is full of intellect and experience and tries to help those who are weak.

I’m willing to bet that people who have seen my writing thus far enjoy my assessments far more than yours.

I exude so much confidence and integrity with my statements and I’m trying to help you do the same.

One less feeble, hypnotized fan is a step closer to the furthering of MMA as a whole, both in fanfare and credibility.

I want the best for our sport, you should do the same.

          – The Man You Strive to Become

        • Xaninho says:

          I’m not taking offence.

See? you’re thinking too highly about yourself. Which part of “I’m enjoying myself, verbally bitchslapping dumbasses like you is fun.”, didn’t you understand?

Go ahead post some more pseudo-intellectual nonsense. You’re trying real hard, I can tell. It’s not convincing though, you’re still irrelevant.

        • Xaninho says:

Xaninho, I shall be irrelevant as long as you are still irrelevant. My role in these comments for the time being is to help you better yourself, hence why I’m using your name. As soon as you are free of the hypnosis that Dana and Andy have you under and develop your own character and ideals I shall be on my way… a riding into the sunset of sorts…

Because that is when I know my work is done, and I can be proud that I helped form a respectable and savvy MMA fan.

However, for the time being you are a miscreant and I am the savant guiding you towards integrity.

          You’re welcome

          – Your Hero

        • Xaninho says:

Hahahaha! You’re a sick little puppy aren’t you?

You’re actually gettin off on pretending to be me! You wish you were me, but you aren’t dude.

Nice try, but as a great champion recently said: nope!

You will never be like me, you’re just a lonely stalker.

      • B-rad says:

Jones and Silva cut from the same weight?? Uhh guess again because Bones can BARELY make LHW there 0% chance he could make 185.. Anderson walks around at like 215 or so bones is like 240

        • Xaninho says:

It’s widely known that Silva has cut about 30-50 pounds to get to 185. Jones doesn’t walk around at more than about 220-225. So, if anything it’s an easier weight cut for Silva. He’s just trying to protect his record. He needs to understand that it would be better to fight Jones and set multiple records than lose at Middleweight. As soon as he loses at Middleweight there will be a drop in interest for any fight involving Silva, so they should take advantage of a fight with Bones and all the records it will break before Silva can lose at Middleweight.

        • Xaninho says:

Widely known? Jones walking around at 220-225?

You need to learn that making up your own ‘facts’ do not change the reality silly ****.

  9. Xaninho says:

    GSP by decision.

  10. Diezel says:

I love my bum and thumb in my ass

    • Xaninho says:

So it’s daddy and his nono huh? You’re annoying but I feel sorry for you.

Go ahead post some more, use my name! If that makes you feel better after such a horrible experience by all means I don’t mind at all.

  13. Gabi says:

First off isn’t this is about Jones vs Hendo here?
Anderson and Jones will not happen. Makes no sense at all really. Just putting the greatest fighter (and era which is ending soon due to age and last true old school/generation fighter) in UFC history (his era has been the best) against new UFC era Jones (new generation of fighters w the potential to become the next great fighter), a up and coming mind blowingly young LHW champ is a bad fight. They are 2 different types of school old/new generation fighters and weight classes. From only knowing one or two martial arts and adjusted training to dealing w opponents, to the new generation of fighters who have one main background but extremely externly well rounded greatly overall due to the evolution of the sport. Why ruin a legend or a up and coming champ who’s suppose to be the next him for no reason at all? Only way this fight would make sense is if Anderson called out Jones because he might have some ego point to prove about the two schools. So in short yea no will not happen. Will not help either fighter in anyway possible only hurt one and possibly hurt both.

  14. antwon says:

jones said he wouldnt fight anderson was prolly paid off not to fight him anderson makes to much money for the ufc thats why he gets to pick and choose who he wants to fight

  15. Xaninho says:

hey I’m the real deal. I love silva
