Tank Abbott Returns to the Cage | MMA NEWS

47 year-old Tank Abbott is slated to make his return to professional fighting at King of the Cage’s April 13 fight, dubbed “Fighting Legends.”  After a three-year absence from fighting, Abbott (10-14) will face fellow heavyweight, Ruben “Warpath” Viallareal (20-25-3), in the headline fight. Tank Abbott is perhaps best known for his days in the early UFC tournaments and his more recent EliteXC fight against internet sensation, Kimbo Slice.  Abbott’s last fight resulted in a 29-second KO of Mike Bourke in February of 2009.  His opponent, Warpath, has fought some notable fighters such as Bas Rutten, current UFC top contender, Antonio “Big Foot” Silva, and former UFC stars, Don Fry and Dan Severns.  He is coming off two consecutive losses in the spring of 2012.

The two will meet in the main event of the KOTC card at the Gold Country Casino in Oroville, CA on April 13.  Also on the card will be a light heavyweight title fight between champion, Trevor Prangley, and challenger, Dan Molina.  KOTC released a promo for this fight on their Facebook page earlier this week.

he will just hurt his body even more, its time to hang the gloves tank

  2. The natural says:

I have to go on record saying Dana’s really always been a douche and everybody needs to stand up to him now before its too late we should all no longer buy ppv until Dana can go without bashing any of past present and future fighters who built the UFC and stop taking credit for the UFC sucess. Please this is for the fighters it’s time someone stands up too him. Also time for someone to stand up for fighters in UFC and start a union to protect the fighters

    • some guy says:

yeah… I’m sure the whole world is gonna stop buying ppv events or watching big name fights just because DW is a douche! look i dont agree with how Dana treats the fighters past or present. but just because he is a controlling egotistical a$$hole doesn’t mean that us as FANS of MMA should take money out of the fighters pockets because of one douche bag!
Now back to the article. Tank its time to hang the gloves up man, you were once great and unstoppable. but now you are past your prime WAY PAST it, the REAL fans would never think any less of you for hanging the gloves now that being said I would like to thank you for your involvement for the sport you help create!

    • Cody says:

I dont agree with you. Dana is brutally honest. I see nothing wrong with that. Just because hes not like Rodger Godell or any other major sports president/ceo/owner does not mean hes a douche. he runs things the way he wants to. he says what he wants to. its his business and he has every right to do that. no matter how much of a douche he is. hes still going to get alot of ppv buys. sell out arenas. and still sign the best fighters in mma to his organization. thats not going to change

    • Mike cannon Jr. says:

Your rite about Dana.. He’s a total chode.. Super douche… I can’t wait till I hear of somebody Layin that fool out… They had better hope I’m not on the jury…. cuz whoever does it… Will walk….

    • Donovan says:

Stop buying PPV cuz Dana White is a douche?? Listen girl, Dana is a business man and a fight fan. Those two combined give you what you see and here.

  3. Furyfied says:

That urge to fight once again after a grueling phase of retirement could turn out to be a terrible decision. I don’t know… He’s 47 y/o, 10–14 and did I say he’s 47? He may have helped the UFC establish its name but sometimes you have to let go of the things you love. You could always show some love towards in other more convenient ways. 😀

    • Sasquatch says:

T.DADDY’s true feelings (and disturbing one’s at that!)… he’s just too scared to post under his own name. No doubt he’s been banned by now seeing how has been throwing out the trash and I haven’t seen him lately, but I do see there’s a “Big Daddy” commenting now.. what are the odds.. lol

  6. Jhonny Blaze says:

    I hope he’s not serious.

  7. Tank sucks says:

Tank was never great, he was good at beating dudes half his size, he should of retired as soon as they introduced weight classes, brock lesnar would be good at beating welterweights as well lol

    • TankLegend says:

So John Mutua and Paul Verlans were half his size? You’re an idiot. He never evolved with the sport because he loved it for what it was when he started. FIGHTING. You fight him his address is online go to his house, knock on his door and say hey you suck ass I want to kick your ass. See how it goes. Other wise stop talking shit about a past his prime fighter online using a fake name Fucking pussy.

  8. Almighty sandman says:

    That is sad.

Not sure what else there is to say.

  9. sawbuck says:

saw some vid on the internet of tank in a backyard fight against some dude he once fought in ufc. i guess some fan paid them for a ‘rematch’. it was freakin’ pathetic. both of them gassed out, tank on this guy’s back doing nothing, lots of stumbling around, winging wild shots. it was all i could do to watch it. tanks ufc days were a long time ago. the sport has come a loooooong way. tank hasn’t. just gotten older, fatter and slower. needs to be protected from himself.

  10. BX81 says:

Next article reads…. Tank dies in the cage!

  11. Dan says:

Tank was never any good. He is not and never has been an athlete. He had some success in the early days of UFC, but he doesn’t have a fraction of the talent the younger guys have now. The days of people like Tank and Kimbo are long gone. MMA is for serious athletes now.

  12. 10-14 says:

10-14 all you need to say.

  13. Anonymous says:

What happened to spell-check? Dan Severns? and Don Fry? Tank still has his power I’m sure.

  14. SAm says:

    Rampage said the same thing

  15. David M. says:

Haha i see tank shopping at my grocery store all the time. Cool guy
