Stann to replace Rogan in the UFC 163 booth

UFC 163 will have a different flavor to it.

Recently retired Brian Stann will replace regular analyst Joe Rogan for the event.

UFC 163 will be held Aug. 3 at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janerio. Stann, a former UFC middleweight who retired in early July, will team with Mike Goldberg for the call.

The news was announced on Tuesday’s edition of “UFC Tonight.”

Stann let it be known just two days after his retirement of a broadcast deal with FOX Sports South that will have him working as a member of the coverage crew for Atlantic Coast Conference football.

Stann has done plenty as analyst already for the company, working the booth for FOX and FUEL TV’.

UFC 163 features a featherweight title fight between champion Jose Aldo and “The Korean Zombie,” Chan Sung Jung.

Stann, a former WEC champion, finished his career 12-6 and was 6-5 in the UFC.

It is being reported as a one-time only but let’s hope this isn’t a sign of things to come and Rogan will remain at the analyst helm for the bulk of the pay-per-view coverage.

  1. The Way Of The Dutchman says:

FOX doesn’t like Joe. His pro marijuana stance and his political views are not exactly FOX’s…..I’m afraid this is the first step to removing him. When that happens UFC will never be the same.

    • jason says:

Ya I can see fox having a lot of influence over a PAY PER VIEW IN BRAZIL.

      • The Way Of The Dutchman says:

Ofcourse they have. Anik has covered PPV already and now Stann. They are both FOX. And FOX is an important partner for the UFC right now, so yes they can (ab)use their position to pressure UFC.

  2. YoMama says:

I have to say the product is just not as good when Rogan is not in booth.

  3. Simon says:

I hope they don’t get rid of Rogan, his voice IS the UFC. I did wonder how much longer he could get away with his public pro weed stance when working for a major network like Fox, could get bad publicity for them, PLEASE LET IT BE A ONE TIME DEAL.

Hopefully it’s just that he doesn’t have time to do it as it’s in Brazil, with Rogan’s busy schedule filming his new TV show.

  4. Gargoyle Wrestling says:

Man all you conspiracy theory tools are hilarious!! See what happens when you smoke dope Makes you a paranoid DOPE! Geez..get a like tools.

  5. Peter says:

He never goes overseas so I don’t see how this is big news
